D-forms break when parented to object

Setting the parent of a d-form edited item causes them to break, no longer functioning as well as being unable to use the previously working d-forms. It happens as soon as item is parented. Object in question has four D-forms applied to it.
There are no similar threads that I could find detailing this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Are they working with a field to control the effect or have you applied a weight map?
Are the dforms and their associated fields parented to the object that's being dformed, and which is being re-parented? Maybe you could create a worked example using just simple primitives that demonstrates your issue in action?
