Problems with the Forum

edited April 2023 in The Commons

I'm not sure if anyone in with any power actually read these things, but there are a couple of problems with the forums that drive me crazy.

1. If you enter from Google or another search engine, it makes you log in if the system has logged you out. This is fine, and I understand it, but the problem is it doesn't take you back to the page you entered on. So, if I google "how to save morphs in Daz Studio" the link will take me to a forum page briefly, tell me I'm not logged in, then when I log in, it keeps me on the log in page. I then have to go back a couple of times in my browser to refind the link, and then re-enter the forum page I was already on. It isn't the end of the world to have to do this, but it still drives me nuts, and isn't something I experience on very many other websites.

2. The search in Forums is aweful. I tried searching for topics related to "Face Transfer". Nothing that came up had anything to do with the topic. I tried to be more specific. Still just a bunch of topics that had no relevence. The work around is to go out of the forums and just google the topic, then re-enter Daz Forums from there. Again, not the end of the world, but something that baffles me.

Moved to the Commons as it is not a Daz Studio application topic.

    1. It's best to make sure you are first logged into the Daz forums, then open a new tab and perform your Google search for your Daz topic.

    2. I agree that the forum search engine needs an upgrade. Basically, you can either perform a 1 word search (especially if it's a unique word such as: Rhinoculous), or for multiple words, such as a product name, make sure it is in quotes, such as "No Suit for Genesis 8 Male"

  • TBH, I always use Google to search the Daz forums. Usually I'm logged in to Daz on another tab, and have opened a new tab to do a search. I think I've noticed that I'm not logged in on the tab that I was searching from, at least sometimes, but since I'm not planning to post from that tab, it hasn't been a concern or problem for me.
