G2 to G8 smart props conversion

So I have just a few G2 smart props I want to use on G8. I don't feel like buying the Riversoft props converter since it's not justified. But I do have the Zev0 pose converters.

Can I convert the props as follows?

1. Convert the default G2 pose for use on G8

2. Load G8 and dial in the hidden G2 clone for G8

3. Apply the converted default G2 pose to G8

4. Load default G2 and the smart prop

5. Unparent the G2 smart prop from G2 and parent to G8

6. Apply the G2 pose for use with the smart prop to G2 and convert the pose for use on G8

7. Apply the converted G2 pose to G8 (who has the G2 prop parented)

8. Save the G8 pose with prop as hierarchical pose preset

Not sure I'd do it that way, mostly because I'm not sure I understand what's happening.

What I would do is (and I have to confess I'm not certain if it'd work - I'm not at my DS machine to give the full sequence of commands and menu option descriptions & I've not done it very often.):

1. Apply the smart prop to G8, it will go in the wrong place. 
2. Move the prop to the correct position.
3. If the prop is rigged, I'd transfer the G8 rigging to the prop using the Transfer Utility and then save as a Wearable Preset
4. If the prop is not rigged, I'd just save as a wearable preset with the 'Smart Prop' checkbox ticked. Did this for my 'Mbira' Prop and also included the hand's pose in the preset.

Hope that gives an idea of where to start doing this.
