It's this one:
https://www.mankahoo.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=267
Mousso is using it for several of her characters, on the main promo for Juniper it matches my render almost perfectly:
https://www.daz3d.com/juniper-hd-for-genesis-8-female
I'm not sure what morphs and other tricks she is using to make it look like it does though but it probably includes 3rd party shaders
(originals are pz2 and must be applied manually to the channels in DS 4.21 if you want to use them).
Maybe also some postwork.
Don't autofit but parent and adjust it if you want to use other than older gen4 characters and earlier (it has fits for these). I'm using G8F here.
And use SubD to get rid of the jaggedness (doesn't look like Mousso has done that).
Alternatively, Windfield has several that look close so that may be an easier option.
Hey Taoz !
Thank you for this answer !
Gona buy it right now !
I'm actually gonna try with Lili Hair for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females ( https://www.daz3d.com/lili-hair-for-genesis-8-and-81-females )
I bought HR 162 but it looks very plastic...
maybe you know any shaders that would make them look more realistic ? ( or tweakings that I may try ? )
I will keep it for a Goth / dark character that 'im going to create. With a very deep dark black, it should work ( see attatched )
I guess that I need to play a bit more with it to make it look "real"...
Anyway thank you agin for the infos and help !
Cheers mate !
No problem! You could try UHT Hair Shaders for Iray , they play quite well with Ali's hairs IMO. I've used UHT Platinum TN (TN means thin strands, WD wide strands) here, a light hair as it makes it easier to see how well the shader works. There is a preset for turning off Top Coat, it's On on the first render, and Off on the second.
I've also hidden the hair cap ( @Mousso does that too it seems), caps often don't look good with 3rd party shaders. You do that under Surfaces by selecting the Hr162M1 hair part only, then click the button on the Cutout Opacity channel and select Browse, and then apply the Hr-1622_Tr.jpg map. I believe though that Mousso may be editing the mesh also or something, as the hair parting is more closed and looks more natural on her versions. Maybe she has made her own modified version of the hair, or maybe it's just postwork. If you want the cap back, just apply the original Hr-1621_Tr.jpg to that hair part.
3rd one is with the UTH Basic Black TN shader and Top Coat Off, with the cap on as it seems to work quite well with black shaders. Last one is preset 25a from IDG Iray Hair Essentials Shaders with Top Coat Weight reduced to 0.1, IMO that is the one I know of that looks best for a black shader for this hair, but for other colors I think the UHT shader looks better. Lighting matters too, of course, I've used HDR Light 10 L from PRO-Studio HDR Lighting System 2 for the black versions.
BTW, when testing 3rd party hair shaders, make sure that you remove all parts of a shader product when you apply new shaders from another product, otherwise they may interfere with each other. I use ctrl+z as many times as needed to return to the hair's original shader before applying one from a new product for testing.
You can also find Mankahoo's hairs on renderosity.
Yes, but they're more expensive there and Mankahoo is the artist's own store so they get 100% of the sale price instead of 50%. So it's a win-win for both you and the artist to buy them at their own store.
LOL can't argue with that
Sometimes it's possible to get the old hairs to Cloth dForce quite well. They have a low enough poly density and big enough gaps between the facets to drape nicely. If you have a Linday dForce hair, it could be a good reference for the dForce settings. However, first time you try it, save before you simulate and keep your mouse hovering over the 'Cancel' button for if it doesn't work. You may be able to catch it before an explosion.
Regardless, you could make a couple of shader presets for your own use from the Linday hair & apply them to the new hair even if you don't dForce it. That would probably make it look rather nice without any fancy dForce effects.
