Looking for broken wood planks, shards, etc

Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to find some props like these broken wood planks and little pieces...but hopefully a little less expensive.   ;)

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much, but I'm looking for damaged or broken planks, with visible detail that they're split, splintered, or broken in two. I have plenty of wood textures to put on primitives and such.

Thanks Nomad, but those don't have what I'm looking for either. They need to be wood and they need to have detailed damage. I appreciate all of the links though.  :)

Houdini has a dedicated solver for fracturing objects in physically accurate ways according to their material. If I had a license and could thus export OBJ, I'd shoot you some.

That sounds like a neat feature Gordig. Blender has an addon that will cause damage to props and such, but it's more for cracks and scrapes to use on architecture. I can probably try opacity maps on a single wooden plank, but these sorts of props would be a lot easier.

  • You can break stuff apart like that inside Daz Studio with Gescon, actually.

I had seen broken wood planks in debris and opened up D|S and found that there are some in https://www.daz3d.com/modular-destruction that @nomad-ads_8ecd56922e suggested. I am attaching the snips of the thumbnails. They are not in the promo pages.

  • Speaking as someone who has made broken glass bottle freebies and broken Christmas bauble freebies, I feel the need to say that it's much more difficult than you'd expect. It's much easier to model a complete manufactured item, and is the first step in making a broken item. Then once that's done, you model the break, fragments etc. All of which are pretty random, and very hard to model randomly. Then the manufactured flat surface has one texture (possibly weathered) while the fractured surface needs to look fresher and rougher. Much more difficult than doing the unbroken item. Just a view of why such things may be less common than complete versions. Regards, Richard.

Thank you Lorrain, I'll probably get that second one.

Richardandtracy: Yes, it's obviously fairly difficult or there would probably be more of them available.   :)  If you ever consider making those sorts of items again, such as broken tables, wood pieces, broken floor pieces, or other elements that could be useful in action scenes, I would certainly be interested, as would a fair number of others who make comic art I'd imagine.

For general broken stuff (including bottles and a mirror), there's my Tornado Bar: Fight Bar product (sadly no wooden planks - I did have a wooden plank in my old Kung Fu school set but that was fairly basic in terms of morphs and wouldn't be good for closeups).

Stonemason: That looks amazing, thank you so much! As I like making action scenes in fantasy settings, I will surely use them often and try to remember to thank you each time.  :)

Silent Winter: Thanks for reminding me of that set, it's a neat idea that I wish we'd get more of. Damaged everyday objects (or everyday fantasy/sci-fi ones) are not only fairly difficult to find, but they're not the kind of thing you can easily or realistically make within Studio or even without a lot of postwork.

Hmm, now you've got me wanting to make Fantasy and Sci-Fi versions of this idea. Not a 'bar' per se but something. (I won't lie though - It's a lot of work so don't expect anything from me any time soon)
