Forced to use tokens?

I had two tokens that expire in a few hours... like 10 or so.  I was ordering more stuff today to boost them up for a larger purchase, but its forcing me to use the two on that first sale?  (It automatically applied them and I cant unselect it).  Does anyone know whats going on with this?  Is this a me problem or is it some type of glitch or bizzare rule about using them?

    You can use the little minus sign next to the Token icon with number of tokens to reduce the number to zero, then click at the "Apply to Cart" and the tokens are not used.

    The number next to the token icon returns to the maximum 8 or whatever you have, but the button says "Apply to Cart" instead of "Applied"
