Didn't see a feature requests thread...

So, I've been using DAZ for years, and while I like the new Genesis 9 characters, and some of the advances to the animation of faces with 8.1 and 9, there is just so many other things that I would think are more important.  Animated VDB's, particle physics, water physics, soft and hard body physics, and hair physics independent of the cloth simulation provided by dForce would be chief among them.  The ability to natively animate mesh lights to illuminate and turn off slowly would be phenomenal.  I know there are various plug-ins/community content that gives some of these features, like FluidOS, Parsis, and Simtenero Particle Physics, but the ability to do these natively within DAZ is long overdue.  Also a more feature-rich animation panel would be excellent.

How about you guys?  Anything you wish DAZ had that it currently doesn't?

It's totally legitimate to wish that DS had these features, but honestly I would encourage you to look at other programs that do include these features. I basically only use DS these days to export content to C4D and Houdini. DS has its niche in the marketplace, and it is arguably the best in the business at what it's intended to do, but Daz hasn't made the features you're requesting a priority.

Oh I know, I am dabbling in Blender and C4D, but those are a bit more complicated in certain areas, and re-learning the materials using node-based materials is a hurdle I am still trying to conquer.  I just have a "wishlist" that I wish DAZ would make a priority... I would love to one day see an entire feature-length film made inside of DAZ Studio, I think that would be pretty nifty.

I disagree. I am used to using 3DSMax, Modo and other external apps and renderers, but I no longer have access to them due to cost. Would love to use C4D ($60 monthly) and Houdini (indie $269 yr), but same thing, cost, even with subscription based it is still costly, so for many, that just isn't an option. I have blender installed and try as I might, still can't get past the UI. So I would love for DS to have more features and even more import options (and less export options). I would love to do everything inside just DS. Granted DS is free, and it does sooooo much for the price, so I shouldn't expect more, but it would be nice

I'm not disputing that it would be NICE for DS to have those features, but waiting around for them to be added would be a fool's errand. Hell, Daz could just buy out Alberto's products and make them native features of DS like they did with GraphMate and KeyMate, and there you go. I haven't used Alberto's products and don't know how they compare to the various physics systems in other programs, but DS has a variety of optimization issues that I suspect make it a suboptimal environment for simulations. I'm not even paying for Houdini yet, but this is an example of what I was able to do in the free version:

I'm not recommending Houdini for everyone (though I am planning to make a series of tutorials about using Daz content in Houdini), nor would I recommend C4D for everyone. I despise using Blender, but it's got all the features you want, and it's free. DS is DS, and Daz doesn't seem especially eager to add the features you're requesting. The other programs are intended to do the things you're asking for, and DS isn't. That's all I'm saying.

I can help with C4D related questions.

I might just take you up on that when I have some time... maybe I can message you in a week or so?
