Here is yet another Postwork WIP I am trying to learn how to set the mood for a renderered model so here is my first go around postwork!!

I am not sure as to why the white part happened and why the shadow followed it out that way.

I know I have so much to learn to get to where @IceDragonArt is but I am trying my best.

    Any and all suggestions welcome.

    This is really cute, Saph!

The lighting on the character fits the background - I'm assuming that you added the background after the render.  It's not easy matching render and background and you did a good job (despite the oops, which you will fix).

Try to add some will'o the wisps:  Take a soft round brush, and turn the hardness WAY down.  Then turn down the opacity and flow, maybe to 25 each.  Set it to a pretty color, create a new layer and tap your mouse without moving it.  Each time you tap, you will get more color.  Stop when you like it.  You can also do two colors by doing a soft large circle and then a smaller circle of a different color.  If you have a star shaped brush, set its flow and opacity to 100% and tap that right on top if you want more glowing star effects.

My instructions are general here because I haven't used GIMP in a while, but as I recall, the items above should be the same as Photoshop.

Thanks @Dracorn I will deffinately check that out.

I am still working on this image in GIMP and will post it when it is completely finished, as I am still figuring out all the new gadgets GIMP has now with the updates.

Wow - they're having an argument and even the horse is getting into the mix!  He he.  I agree with you, it's a little too bright.  Also, check the feet - there's a little problem with the gal's feet not touching the ground.

LIghting looks fine to me, just need to tone down surfaces of horse.  Also, left character shin armor needs adjusting.  Other then that fab job.

I stoped to take a bit of a break from RRRR Contest rendering to do my own portrait!!

I finally took some time to use the charactors I have not used in a very long time now like Dusk (Hivewire) and Loriane (My muse)

Hey Sapphire, love the render with the horse, he is definitely sticking his nose in!   And the purple tones in the couple render are lovely. Hiro looks like he is ready to kick some... butt lol.  Are you doing those in Iray or 3delight? If you are doing them in Iray check and make sure that you draw ground on in the environments tab, that will give you the ground shadows that will help anchor your characters to the ground.  If you are doing them in 3delight I think you need to have shadows on.  Not positive on that, its been quite some time since I've mucked about in 3Delight.

I agree, nice renders! Think the horse render is very well done:)

If you want to have ground shadows in 3DL, you need to create a primitive plane and apply a shadow catcher shader to it. The shader can "easily" be created in shadow mixersmiley

Do you know of an up to date tutorial on the shadow catcher shader?Sven Dullah

I have already watched one on youtube but it was a bit out dated.

Waitaminute... is that a render of characters looking at renders...? laugh Looks pretty good. Camping Blunders is kind of amusing, and nice use of DoF on the beach picture, that's come out well.
