Quiapo Street

Has anyone bought and played with this set yet? Do the doors on Quiapo Street open and close? There's nothing in the product description about it. Some promo images show overhead doors that are partially open, which suggests they might, but that's not a confirmation that they actually do. It looks kind of desolate with everything closed up. I want to put shops and homes into the buildings.

That is a big set. I wish I had the PC power to add interiors into the buildings. Hope someone confirms, would like to see the results.

I did get it but not had a chance to have a look yet. If no-one else does it before me I'll have a look after work.

Not a big scene...ttl 940K Faces of 57 props loaded in 10 secs. No door (nothing) can be opened... as usual.

PS: As for "Partially Opened..", the geometry was just made to be like that... while there's no rigging with the door.

When I looked at it in my runtime yesterday, I noticed the buildings and street can be loaded seperately from props. So if you are worried about your computer handling the full scene, lood just what you need for the viewport needs. Later today I will try it out on one of my computers, either a 1080, a 1080ti or my MacBookPro M1 which goes to CPU and see what happens.

My tests results were first off no issues. I loaded the full scene file, either night or day then picked different camera views and in one case landscape.

    Dragon, a desktop with a GTX 1080Ti, 11gb of Vram and 64gb ram: Night scene, Square 1000 x 1000, Camera 7, took 27 minutes.

Drake, a laptop with a GTX 1080, 8 gb of Vram and 32gb of ram; Day scene, Landscape, 1200 x 712?, Camera 2, took 19 minutes.

Demon, the MacBookPro M1, renderes on CPU, Day scene, Square, 1000 x 1000, Camera 2, took 2 hours. Finished up with the other two since I started it shortly after posting above.

And you can close the eyes of objects not in the camera view, so that would reduce the load on even older graphic cards.

What I saw in all my renders were clear, sharp images that look remarkably like I was walking down streets right after a rainfall. Like yesterday morning when I was out for my walk before the heat of the day hit.

    I hope this helps someone.

Thank you all for the information. It's really a shame the doors are static as it limits the use of this product. Are the materials for doors at least separate so I can hide them?

Some of the doors can by hidden on Surfaces, some cannot as their surfaces include both doors and frames... so you have to select relevant Geometry.

Darn it! Well, at least some of them I can do it with. I'll take my chances. Thanks for the information.

There is a vendor elsewhere who does scenes, mostly interior, but some exterior. None of that vendor's doors are rigged, but they're all parented props that can rotate properly to open and close. That would be preferable to static doors.

many doors on sets are just placed over solid walls, if this is the case here then there is not a lot you can do except place a render on a primitive of the interior behind it

Even in this case you could add an opacity map to the wall to create the opening, hide the non-opening door and frame, then add your own door and frame that can be opened.

There is pretty much always a way to get a door or window to open in any set, but naturally these will be more work than just moving the "Open Door" slider in sets that do include opening doors.
