Customising Genesis 2 (female) more than the slider options? DAZ Studio

Hello everyone,

Hope you guys don't mind the second topic! I've bought a few things for DAZ Studio that work with the genesis 2 model, which I'm happy with. However I'd like to be able to customise the figure a bit more than what I can see to find in the parameter options.

Is it possible to:

  • Slim the female figure to make it more athletic (less curves, slimmer thighs)? More straight than curvy
  • Lengthen the legs?
  • Make the breasts smaller (like that of an a cup)

Basically I'm wanting to create a teenager-like build, I'll be using the single frame renders for reference in painting illustrations and I want to be able to use the poses I've bought for the genesis 2 models.

Is this possible or do I need to look at buying a model like Keiko 6?

Thanks,

Hannah

what morphs kits if any did you buy? The more morphs you have, the more options you have. I tend to pick up a handful of morph kits for each generation so that I have plenty to pick from.

The idea with morph kits is they are general purpose morphs to shape the character as you like. You can buy characters too, but they are typically just a morph or two (head and body), sometimes with some other options but not a ton.

    Consider some stuff like this

    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-female-body-morph-resource-kit-1

  • Thanks Larsmidnatt - I didn't actually buy any morph kits yet (mostly posing ones) but I have been eyeing up the first link you posted, I just don't quite have the funds for it yet!

I guess I'm asking if there's a way to create morphs yourself? I assume it wouldn't be easy, mind - just curious.

Have added your links to my wish list, cheers! :)

Yes you can create your own morphs but do you have any skills with modeling? You would do it externally from Daz Studio. So Hexagon, Blender, Silo, Maya, Zbrush etc etc etc. There are lots of tutorials around showing how to make morphs for Daz Studio/Poser. But first you need to have some familiarity with a 3D modeling tool.

You can do some simple morphs with deformers in daz studio, but I wouldn't make a leg length morph that way...

    Hi Squeesh

there is a Freebie at ShareCG that might help, DieTrying's 182 Morphs for Genesis 2 Female

may keep you busy till you can buy your wish list, it has gotten me close to creating a similar female, as you're trying to create. I'm just having issues with the Breast. I've also been using Hexagon to help me create the morph

Squeesh, for great capability with a low price tag I recommend Hexagon. There are some Hexagon tutorials in the Daz Store and on Renderosity.

Check out the vendor Fugazi1968 on Daz and Renderosity.

I can agree this is a decent free option. There are probably some more but I mostly ignore freebies nowadays for a lot of reasons.

  • Actually, I would encourage you to at least take a look through the freebie content on ShareCG.  I've learned more about Daz from playing with free content than I have from the Daz tutorials, and there are some really good tutorials available on ShareCG, as well.  Most free content, especially props and wearables, will contain templates for customizing, and just having to manually install the pieces will teach you a lot about the content management system....

Then go get a second job and subscribe to PC Club, because you're gonna wanna buy a lot of stuff.  I was like you, I used 3D to generate references for real world art projects. But now that I'm starting to get an idea of what's really possible with this software, I'm foregoing the physical painting and exploring creating art digitally on a level unavailable to me before.

    Like what?

When I first started I did grab lots of freebies. I think initially it makes sense for people to gobble up freebies. However over time they became less valuable to me because:

    1. Freebies sometimes have rules. I don't like rules. Non commmercial use only? No thanks. Can't use a certain way that might be considered immoral? Immoral to who? What really? Pass. I have to give you credit even though I don't have credits? I must send you a copy of the art? Wha?
    2. Freebies are more of a mess organizationally then stuff sold on stores. No/Less Support and Documentation. Which means wasting time sorting it the way you expect.
    3. Freebies are often lower quality
    4. Freebies tend to disappear or get removed from the internet more regularly than content that is sold. (if the provider also disappears, you don't know WHY stuff is gone, was it stolen? What is the current license?)
    5. Lack of Time :)
    6. I have tons of content already...
    7. Freebies don't fill any voids for me :)
    8. More stuff you add, more bloated your computer. More stuff to back up...

Depending on you place and goals, this stuff may not matter. And I don't think all freebies are bad quality...there are some great ones. But once you add it altogether for me that is why I don't bother much with freebies these days.

Well... Some days ago I found on ShareCG long gloves for V4 that fits perfectly my char... But I had to renounce them due to that "No Immoral Use" you named.
Ok, stuff in ShareCG and similar are bound to those foggy rules, especially that "No Immoral" rule that seems to struck many items in the net...
But free stuff from Renderosity, RuntimeDNA, EvilInnocence and Most Digital Creations... They are more reliable and more "moral felixible"?

Renderosity freebies still vary based on who makes them.

I found RuntimeDNA, Most Digital Creations to not have strange rules. Same idea for Daz freebies.

Daz Freebies are normal products from the store that is given for free, so they must have the normal DAZ's license...

that was the point exactly. And RuntimeDNA is the same way and I think Most Digital Creations.

Renderosity is different though as it's not really a single store but a collective of randomness.

Ah, good! Thanks, you really helped me!

Just a last thing... I can render everything I want with the products from the DAZ store?
