Texture and smooth shaded problems

On a Mac (OS X 10.11) DAZ Studio 4.8 has lost the ability to render both smooth and texture shading in the viewport.  Cartoon, Wire Texture Shaded, and Iray still work.  I recently installed CUDA and the newest NVIDIA Driver Manager.  Background and ground color in the viewport also went from blueish to dark grayish.  4.8 public build beta does not have this problem so I'm guessing it is a setting I misplaced (or corupt pref file).  I did uninstal and reinstal 4.8 release build through DAZ3DIM but it didn't change anything.  I have closed and then added new viewports to no avail.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'd rather not have to get rid of all the pref files and then have to add serial numbers back in.

    I did but it didn't help.  I just reset the DAZ prefs to factory defaults and that did it, but now I don't have any tabs in the pref window.

    Ran Beta and Release at the same time and the menus came back.  Running a render now using the CPU and GPU.  Much faster than before.

    So, to recap, I went into DAZ Preferences and at the bottom of the dialouge selected Reset Factory Defaults.  Restared DAZ and (after running both release and Public Beta to get the menus back) reset some display preferences.  Now it seems to be off to the races.

    I have both CUDA and the most recent NVIDIA Drivers running (there are some artifacts in my diplay now and then which I am hoping is the NVIDIA drivers and not the card going south).  I think the artifacts are from the CUDA install as I think they appeared just after that install and still show up if I switch the NVIDIA card to use the latest Apple drivers.
