Need some rigging and material help

I'm finally learning Blender and have come across 2 things that are driving me nuts.
Since these props will be freebies, thought the best place to ask is here.
So far I have made chain necklaces, made them fit G8M and export as obj's. Currently working on making tags for them.
The only other time I have done modelling is with Hexagon and things are done differently with that app. What I need to know is how to have materials assigned so Daz shaders can be used on them (I was told I don't need a uvmap in this case) and I need to know how to rig them for use in Daz (already found out dforce is Not an option lol)

No, dForce works wonky on rigid objects.
In blender you must assign materials (materials in blender = surfaces in DS).
If you go to materials tab (a red sphere secondlast) you can create the number of materials you want, and give them proper names. Then select all the polygons/faces you want on a material and clcik assign.
You must UV unwrap your object, else you can't use textures.
For rigging, you can assign vertex gruops for each bone. Then you can use the figure setup function in DS. You can do rigging without vertex groups, but then you must select the faces in DS, so if you have many bones it is easier in blender.
Ok I have several video's on uv mapping in blender, can study those. Going to be interesting to see what the map of a chain with 80 links is going to look like lol.
Someone did try to help me with assigning materials and since I was streaming during all this, I do have the video to go back over it again.
Rigging I question cause , it's a chain with 80 links, surely I don't need 80 bones. I tried to search for a video on how to rig something like a chain, all I found was one for a snake tail that is really really old. I'll see what I can find about vertex groups in blender, cause I have no idea what that is or how to do it lol
I'm streaming again on Tue so will ask the people who have been helping about vertex groups. In the meantime, practice practice practice lol
Moved to Blender Discussions since it is not an offer of a freebie. It is more likely to be seen by people who can, and are in a frame of mind to, answer it here.
In my first post I said the necklaces would be freebies, it's why I put it in the freebie section, also my questions had to do with how to get it to work in Daz, the person who answered said what I needed to do in blender to get it to do that. Unless there's a way to assign materials or a map in Daz?
You can assign surfaces in DS, but I will say it is way easier in blender. Also if you have modelled it in blender it would be logical to also do the other setup there.
Yes, the Geometry Editor will do it (but not UV map) but I would epxect a native modelling application to be more fluid.
Ok Blender it is, I have the rest of today and most of tomorrow to watch video's and practice before my Tue stream. I have to completely redo the dog tag, it looks mangled in Daz, apparently I forgot to triangulate before saving....practice practice practice.
(psst, no I didn't do the donut tutorial lol)
