Which one is better, CPU+GPU or GPU alone?

Someone said that GPUs manage general jobs better than CPU. I don't have a clue to test it. By the way, I don't know if Medium Threshold and High Threshold settings should affect much on rendering time. Thanx for your contribution!

IRAY rendering, the GPU (if reasonable recent - AND NVidia) should be better. Check how many CUDA cores you card has.
Otherwise, CPU.
M4000 Quadro 1664 cores. I guess I should understand the point now. thx.
Welcome.
you should get pretty fast renders in Iray, but i've read where the Quatro's are not as effecive as the Titan's and some of the 900 and 700 series cards when it comes to that engine.

My understanding is that titans and quadros both have the same floating point limatations; IRAY uses single precission floating point, which is not limited on titans or other consumer cards. Or so I understand, as I've stated.
Re: Quadro and Titan, I think it still comes down to Cuda cores. A Quadro M600 and a Ttian have roughly the same number of Cuda cores so should be about the same. Less than an M6000 should be slower than a Titan X
it's not just the cores. Spces have shown on different forums Quadros with equal cores were getting edged out by Titans for a variety of functions. Quadros are optimized for specific tasks, mostly from high-end software which is does very well, but the Titan (and some other NV cards) can optimize for Iray and do a few other tasks far better and for less $$$.
My 980 Ti and 2xM4000 render this pic (no cpu) in 5 min and a half. Quite longer than I expect (ed). Is this too long for you guys? And yes StratDragon, it seems that Titan X is faster than M4000. That's what I feel when I saw someone render realtime with 2xTitan X.
