Rib Morph for G9 Female?

I've purchased a number of morph packages for the G9 female, but none seem to accentuate the individual ribs. There are some morphs that reference ribs (rib cage, rib definition, etc.) but none of these seem to make the individual ribs stand out. Does anyone know of such a morph? I made one years ago for V4 but my talents have been lost in that area.

Thanks

I have a TON of G9 morphs, but nothing for the ribs like what you are needing. it took awhile for there to be any for G8, so it will probably show up at some time.

I think I whinge about this everytime I post, haha. Also  almost all of the characters that are otherwise very slim have no definition. I have a BMI of 20 and quite pronounced ribs, so it seems unrealistic to me waaah.

As discussed on a few other threads, https://www.daz3d.com/hh-lexi-for-genesis-9 does have the definition and may be ok for mixing into feminine characters. Her breast can be difficult to dial out.

I'm hoping SuperMassive on another site does a set as the Gen8 ones they did were quite nice

Work in progress using Mira 9 HD. First render is pre and enchancements, and asecond is after three products applied.

They're kind of fake ribs. I used a a gen9 shaping kit by undeadcrab on another site and inverted (what I assume is) their anterior serratus dial (-10%), plus used the 4 rib dials from this product to cutout the overall ribcage mass.

    I've also turned on https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-natural-bend-morphs-for-genesis-9-female-base

    and

https://www.daz3d.com/natural-movements-pack-for-genesis-9 - this product also has a dial "Rib Enhancement" I didn't find strong enough by itself, but it did add some. Sadly, the interaction between this product and the other also cause the unnatural buldge that rims the inverted v of the ribcage, and I haven't worked how to counter it this morning.

Three products to get this pretty average result.

I'll have to try a male character and report back.

  • Thank all for the inputs.

    Sid,

I have that last product, and for some reason I could not find the "rib enhancement" morph under "shaping" but did find it under "parameters" which seems unusual. At 300%, it does show some results. I think what you're showing si better, so I'll experimment a little more.

    Thanks.

  • This one also has some rib definition as part of the full body morph:

Wow, another PA to follow, I don't care for her facial features, though they're still masterfully sculpted, but her physique and anatomical sculpting are incredible! (Wishlisted his store!) I usually sculpt my own ribs and the like, yet I'm not nearly as masterful as some of the PAs here!

I have Twizted Body Morphs for Genesis 9; the "TM Ribs Define" also thins out the character's belly a good bit.

Here's a small set of 2 pairs of pictures, each with morph at 0% and 100%.

Here I created a Negative (-100%) low definition Belle body morph. This allows me to access the full HD of the product on any character without changing the overall shape of the character. It will however bring in the significant Joint Control Morphs the creator includes with the character, these may or may not be desired. I increased the limits to overdrive just to see the results. This can easily be done with any of the HD character add-ons. TD

  • {Ribs, the overlooked body part} Sid, IMO, that rib morphing looks great, and yeah, it's doing something probably unwanted to the solar plexus. I'm seeing 4 ribs there, rather than the 3 ribs sometimes found in PAs characters, and so, I think it's rather exceptional. I'm not quite clear how you accomplished that. Thanks for the references to SuperMassive etc.. Anyway, here are some things I've used on G8 and back to G3 that I'd like to share with rib lovers. Minami HD (and hair, by Rarestone, now listed as Daz Originals) : the non HD body has nice 3 rib visability. So, I tried more than once to isolate that part of the ribcage in Shape Splitter (X-Morphs) and it's been useable, but it's not just a ribs morph - maybe someone more accomplished with Shape Splitter could do it. But, I finally realised that the Minami HD morph had a lot of the same rib morph in it, also realising I could turn off it's limits, add it to any G8 character, use it way past it's normal limits, + or - , and see the morph well when the figure was only set to a subdivision of 1.  The drawback being, it's got other torso morphs in it besides the ribs. So, as good as the HD morph is, you might have to use it somewhat sparingly - but it works pretty well. I always try setting it in reverse cause sometimes it lines up better with the chest and the other HD elements are receding. Unfortunately HD morphs cannot be split in Shape Splitter or, of course, transfered to other generations (AFAIK). So, with deep discounts currently hard to pass up, hoping to stumble upon something useful, I bought, London Character and hair for G8F. Before installing, when looking at the skin tex, I happened to first look at the normal map and there were some ribs! There's some collarbone enhancment ect. but not much more, and I'm thinking I could even edit it. So now, out of the box, I'm using that NM on G3! Haven't done it yet but am thinking this NM could be made larger and fitted to G9. By the way, the London body has noticeable ribs even without using the NM and is easily aged without losing the ribs. But it seems odd to me, that rib morphs have been left out of the paid Daz body morphs and even the ones by the PAs. Hoping some day to not only have the front sides but to include the ribs beneath the collarbone going somewhat separately down the middle of the chest and also adjusting for width. And some separately controlled ribs to complete the ribcage in the back - ribs are beautiful. Thanks for starting this thead and to everyone contributing. / peace

Thank you everyone for all the discussion! Glad I’m not the only one struggling.

@franky85 I guess that makes at least one product that offers definition in the store. The example there looks a little short in the body, and I wonder if that’s a limitation on the base figure used?

@terry_duquette that’s an interesting trick, I didn’t realise it was possible. I guess the utility of it would again depend on the character you applied it to.

@3DmentiaNull great points. I feel like there should be four ribs you can carve out with the right light and pose, using myself as reference, but I know in a lot of woman’s bikini photos there looks like there is three. Gen8 I was using mostly for lighting/colour reference so I could just fix the anatomy when I was painting, but gen9 I’d like to use for finished art, so the anatomy of the figures has become more important to me.

I’m still thinking a lot about it. My dream product would correctly show the biological differences between the genders, show the correct amount of ribs depending on pec/breast size and body position, and realistically show the muscle attachment, particularly for skinny men, where low BMI you still see a bit of muscle. Is that possible with a Daz doll?

Some references from the fantastic, (so fantastic you should all buy it if you like representational art) Anatomy for Sculptors:

  • Hey Sid, thanks for the anatomy lesson! I've been wondering what was sticking out looking like displaced ribs in muscular male Daz figures :) , thank you for posting all that! Also wanted to mention that from PA "HH" /hh-belle-for-genesis-9/ , the character has what seems to be an advanced concept ; "She also comes with many HD morphs that activate/deactivate when you pose her to give her a more natural and realistic look, tailored just for her figure". / Is that a new approach? Does anyone want to comment about how useful that feature is regarding ribs etc.? / takezo_3001, I've never tried sculpting, If you'd like to mention how you approach sculpting ribs I'd love to hear your reponse. / Thanks everyone / peace
