There's a new Studio beta - time to plan ahead!

You've probably seen them - the posts that ask how to fall back to a previous release because the new release doesn't worek for my <whatever>. And the answer is if you kept a copy of the previous release install files just re-install.
Now is the time to handle that 'if'. Either copy the 4.8.0.59 files from your DIM download folder to a safe place or download the stand-alone installers from your product library. You will want Studio and all the DAZ plugins you use. There doesn't seem to be any updates/changes to any of the starter essentials, but it wouldn't hurt to copy them as well.
Remember - once the new release goes live, you won't be able to get the previous release stand-alone installers from your product library. Once you've downloaded the product update with DIM, that avenue closes as well.

Good Advice, Sir
I keep lots of backups.
I'll be sticking with 4.8 as long as possible, and maybe permanently as they will be no longer useful, and restoring from backup will take hours under the new system, not the minutes atm.
from what I can gather upgrading to 4.9 wont block currently installed content (I have ALL of my content stored as zip files on two external drives), it just means that you will not be able to install any futute content via the DIM/Zip files..
So get the Iray and 3delight upgrades and bug fixes of 4.9, and don't buy any more content.!!!!, that's pretty much what I will be doing..
Sad Day.
S.K.
DS 4.8, G2M, and G2F are where I get off the carousel.
I'm thinking the same way. I only hope G3M comes out under the current system. Luckily Rendo and RDNA have been increasing DS and GxF/M production.
Yes.. sad day for sure.
Bitterly dissapointing.
Closed in favour of the main thread, though the advice to back up your current installer is always good. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/64736/
