I am not sure I understand what it is especially for the skirt you are after.

Would something like this work https://www.daz3d.com/grunge-schoolgirl-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

The color doesn't quite matter. The skirt just needs to be the same material as the top. I want something cute and preppy.

    Check out this PA: https://www.daz3d.com/tentman

There is a lot of skirt and top outfits. If they are cute and preppy is really something you need to decide, but the PA is Japanese and they have a reputation for liking things cute (whatever that means!)

Thank you. Most of the top and skirts are different colors though.

They are also not the right style. I want a 50's look.

There is very little 50s clothing in this store, and what little there is for females are mostly dresses rather than skirt and top.

There is this one: https://www.daz3d.com/3-dforce-vintage-outfits-for-genesis-8-female but that is more 60s than 50s, and in most cases the tops and bottoms are not the same colour like what you want.

You're images are not 50's style clothes, during the 50's skirts were worn below the knee, not above it. As for textures, check the free section of renderosity for iray shaders, they have tons there you can use, same on sharecg.

Did a search and the only short skirts I found for the 50's were one's you wear shorts under, unless is was a straight skirt. The one you posted could be from late 50's that might explain a more 60's look. As for my former post, All my aunts and their friends, I have seen their pictures and no one wore skirts that short.

  • Actual vintage 1950s skirt patterns. Nothing is above the knee.

  • Err. This must date me. I can remember my mother making some of those in the later 1960's. It wouldn't surprise me if she bought the patterns in the 50's, as we always kept stuff until it fell apart, including patterns. I can remember some of the tissue paper patterns with so many pin perforations that the edges were more hole than paper.

If the first photo shows a set from the fifties, then it is a children's dress. Even in the late fifties and up to the mid-sixties, adult women and teenagers over 14 wore their knees covered. Which, in my opinion, was not such a bad thing, because the knees are rarely the prettiest part of the human body.

Both of the outfits look homemade to me. The applique on the collar is one I can remember for sale and the buttons don't line up. But, unless you lived in a very hot climate with relaxed rules for bare skin, you would have worn a blouse under those tops. Bare midriffs were not acceptable in a society that still expected you to wear gloves when you went to a store, along with hats and a purse. Depending on where one lived in the world and even in what state in the USA, fashion moved at different rates. If you look at the dresses for Kids4, I wore ones like those in elementary school in the 50s and early 60s with their evolving looks, tight bodice, full skirt and did not expose my tummy. By junior high it was changing. 50s suits

That was until the impact of Jackie Kennedy, Dior, the Mod Look on normal fashion brought straight, shorter skirts into fashion. I do remember my and my older sister's shock when we moved in 1965 from Los Angeles, California to outside Portland, Oregon and found girls in middle/high school still in skirts and bobby socks/oxfords that were more from the late 1950s. My skirt lengths from '65 to '75 or so were 2 inches above the knee to mid-thigh, depending on the outfit and circumstance. And the 2 inch height included my military uniform skirts, though in '70 it was at knee height, with the '50s era style uniforms we were issued. 60s suits

By the time we moved to San Francisco Bay Area, California in 1968, the Hippie look was in and all bets were off. My little sister wore antique handkerchiefs sewn together as a top with ribbons by the early '70s. 70's outfits

  • How did I create a fashion history lesson? I'm not complaining but I just wanted to describe what I wanted. Regardless of the pattern I still can't find a cropped button up with a skirt.

The history lesson part is because too many items in the store (and I also see this on sites selling vintage real-life items) are incorrectly labeling something as belonging to a particular era when it doesn't. This spreads misinformation which eventually becomes regarded as truth by those who are unaware of the actual truth. It's discussed a bit in this thread:

I'm not aware of anything like the pictures you've posted. You may have to kitbash. Perhaps you can make use of some of these items. Some have multiple options. You may be able to use trans maps or turn parts of them off.
