Is my DS toast?

I'm running DS 4.7 on Win 8.1. Sometimes when I try to load content, the program just closes. It also does this every time I try to render. Also, my content folder is a mess, and a lot of stuff either prompts me to search for files, or the icons are blank and won't load the items. I really don't want to have to uninstall DS, reinstall it, and then spend ages reinstalling all of my content. Any help/advice you guys could give me would be great. I never really got into DS, was more into Poser, and I really do want to start learning DS.

    First of all, the content and the program are two different issues.   Reinstalling the program (DAZ Studio) will not affect content in any way, nor will reinstalling the content affect the program.

    I would avise you to uninstall and reinstall at least the program, and even upgrade to DS 4.8.

    What OS are you using, and what are your machine specs RAM, Graphics card etc?

    I have an Asus Gamers Republic machine. 

    i7 - 3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz

    8 GB ram

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - 2 GB GDDR5 SDRAM
