there appears to be an embedded 'default directory' in studio code - SOLVED -

I have changed all directories to a drive other than 'c:' (i have limited space on boot drive).  when i run the sci-fi warrior tut, all is well until i double click for 'loading a wearable(s)' when it can't find it because it is looking for the 'default' location provided within the software.  i have looked for settings in the directories on the hard drive, and in the registry.  i come up with nothing on the 'c:' drive.  please help me resolve this problem. thanks in advance for the help.

Did you adjust the content directories within Studio itself, in the Content Directory Manager?

Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager.  Then  both Daz and Poser formats need to be set to the location you moved everything to.

Another possibility is that the scene or script file for the tutorial actually has an absolute path, as opposed to a relative path.

  • all directory locations have been modified.  i have looked at the script files associated with hair and wardrobe and there is nothing hard coded.

  • In several instacnes, if DS is pointed to a folder that doesn't exist when opening a file dialogue the dialogue will open on the application folder. Is that what you are seeing? It would probably help if you posted a screenshot.

  • hope this helps

  • Well, the issue is that you have an old reference from when the file was installed to C: - that's why the highlighted item is showing a generic icon and has an exclamation mark on it. Cancel out of there then in your Content Library, under Products, open the S folder then the Sci-Fi Warrior Bundle folder. Right-click on the file there and select Database>Edit Base paths, then in the dialogue box click the button next to Change and set it to All files using this base path, then click the Button next to Change to and select the content directory that now contains this content, then click Accept. Now try running the tutorial again.

Can you post a screenshot of your mapped content folders...from the Content Directory Manager?

Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager.  Expand both Daz and Poser formats...

  • Richard, thank you ever so much. i now have a clothed little hussey ;)  ... but the gun blew up, so now i gotta perform your magic to that and the rest...

mjc - thanks for the help, but even with a pic, i can assure you that all those directories point to the other drive, not the beginning default, thanks :)
