Daz Studio 4.8 crashes

I am having an issue wit hStudio 4.8 crashing when I try to delete things from scenes. If I try to delete a figure (ie Genesis 2) Stdio crashes as soon as I click delete. Seems to be ok on deleting objects or clothing items. Also I get crashes sometimes if I try to unparent and object from a Genesis  figure.

Any ideas whats going on?

  • I haven't seen this, though I do have a faint memory of someone else reporting it. Are you on Mac or Windows? Which version?

Are these freshly created or saved scenes?

Do you have the Reality plugin?

Studio also crashes if I 'unpoint' a light, if I point a light at something else all is fine but if I go from pointing at something to pointing at 'none' this will cause Studio to crash. (all of these crashed have only started occuring since upgrading to 4.8)

Sounds like a plug-in at fault.
Disabling each third-party plug-in one at a time, and do a delete after each might identify the plug-in at fault. A thorough check would be to restart DAZ3D after disabling each plug-in before testing with a delete. I am not completely sure about DAZ3D but with some applications plug-in code can stay resident (and active) even after it is flagged as disabled, until the application is restarted.

I just tried disabling all third party plugins but still had the same problems sad

Checking your log file may give you an indication of what the problem is.

If you create a new blank scene and add just Genesis 2.  Then delete Genesis 2 and it crashes, then I would try using DAZ Install Manager to first remove Genesis 2 and then re install Genesis 2.

If it does not crash for the above, then here are some links to other threads that may help:

They relate to missing objects referenced within the scene.
