  • Please give the figure some clothes.

I just tried all four of the prefab scenes without issue - exactly what are you loading?

Richard I am sorry you could only see her head, legs and arms as I covered her with a big red circle that covered her body in full......I loaded a prefab scene and got some land, I got two big white box's that should be tree's.

I am reinstalling daz for the third time, I have also reinstalled the product no luck as yet.

    Huh!

This set's got a VDB block in it. You can't normally see the block in the scene in Texture Shaded mode, but here's an image of the transition screen as the viewport is changing from Texture Shaded to Iray mode. See the block? Look familiar?

That block, which should be rendering as general mist everywhere* in Iray, is doing something strange for you. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why. I can tell you that you can go look in the scene (it'll be nested under some of the larger terrain groups) and find "KMTS VDB Container" wherever it occurs and delete it from the scene, and see what happens then.

EDIT: Actually, I tried it with the VDB block deleted and I guess it wasn't what was making the mist; scene still looks pretty darned misty. Definitely try deleting it; it doesn't seem to make much of a difference anyway.

Big red circles are not acceptable ways of handling nudity - Acceptable Ways of Handling Nudity

You are using 4.12.x.x according to your screen shot, that is just too old for some elements of this product. You need to use a current version or, as sugested, remove the VDB and hope there are no other compatibility issues (though I have a feeling that the ground mist won't work either).

Yes, to use any VDB based file, you need a newer version of Daz Studio. I suggest downloading the Daz Studio beta so you can keep your existing 4.12 in tact, just in case other changes to Iray cause problems for you. That way you can keep 4.12 and use the new beta 4.21 at the same time. Also, if your GPU is really old, the new versions of Daz Iray may not render on outdated GPUs. That is why I recommend trying the beta instead of updating the primary DS.

I don't have this item, but maybe there are some settings that do not use VDB, so you managed to avoid the issue until now. There is no way a VDB file can work properly on Daz 4.12. Support for VBD did not begin until 4.20 or 4.21, I forget exactly which. Either way, 4.12 is like 5 years out of date at this point.

I personally keep 4.16 as my primary Daz, I never updated it past that point. I have the Daz 4.21 BETA as my alternative. The reason for this is that some older items do not work in 4.21 correctly, so this can create a new problem. There are also some situations where 4.21 renders slower. So it is a good idea to keep your old 4.12 around and only use the beta for the up to date features.

You can find the Daz Studio Beta in DIM when you check the box that says "Display Hidden", as the beta is hidden by default.
