Daz 3D and Paintshop pro X8

Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to import characters into a paintshop pro image as a new layer?

If you don't use a background the character you render comes out with a transparent background. Just make sure to save as a format that supports them like png. Then you can just drag and drop that layer with the character to any image.
