Death is Coming for Us All

Are you ready for Death (9)?

I had to do a little spit take when I saw saw "Death 9". I thought it was a joke at first. I am guessing she is Arabella 7's decendent, as she doesn't look particularly dead, and she looks pretty skinny in her other promos.

It has come to my attention, however, reports of Death may be premature. Death may not come until the clock strikes midnight in Utah, perhaps Death is especially fond of that area. So you will need to wait until then to click this link to see Death and determine if Death is right for you. https://www.daz3d.com/death-9-hd

Consider this your countdown to Death!

First famine, and now death. Is there a pale horse in her bundle? They skipped over war/murder and the antichrist. Maybe Mick 9 is the next male. Pleased to meet 'cha...

    She's arrived!

It's weird that Famine was Dain 9, but Death is just Death.

How... seasonal. At least the zombie add-on can be applied to other figures. If you're into zombies, that is.

Nothing else in the bunde really strikes me as anything that I need. The figure/morph could be useful, but the fact is that I'm getting steadily less and less interested in adding any new characters to my library. And by this time just about all the clothing tends to strike me as either redundant, or irrelevant to anything that I would be likely to use.

People just starting out would probably see it a lot differently, I realize.

Could someone please tell me what the hood is in the main promo pic posted by outrider42 above?

I'm no friend of death, but because I would not stop for Death, she kindly stopped for me with a Pro Bundle FULL of outfits and hairs that I actually want and can use. Her textures are more painterly than I would've hoped, and her head morph looks like a version of what came before, but I'd probably eventually buy everything in the bundle except the expressions. I'll just wait until tomorrow for the probable late adopter discount.

BTW, fefecoolyellow is on another level.

Looks like Arrival of Death, possibly with one of the alternate textures.

  • I like the character. Looks impressive & with a good range of promo's to show how the figure will work with other mixes.

The price, though.. I'll skip. Full price Mousso G9 HD figures are less and I cannot say I've seen a difference in quality. Shame though. Would have been nice.

    Regards,

    Richard

I wonder how they came up with 40,000 men & women everyday? Is it 20,000 of each? It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Great song though.

I hope she comes with tarot cards, crystal ball, and all sorts of funky mystically occult parlour games. Is the Grim Reaper next?

She does not appear to include any of those things, no. And I think she's meant to BE the Grim Reaper. https://www.daz3d.com/death-9-hd-pro-bundle

I'm just curious as to what Pestilence and War are going to be. Will Pestilence be a thoroughly gross looking character, with an alternate youth morph whose face is being conquered by the dreadful invading forces of acne (tm Terry Pratchett)? Will War just be Ares 9, featuring no fewer than three particularly spiky sets of armor?

Anyway, Death looks interesting enough. They do appear to have committed to the bit, to be sure.

I always took it as a song about ending oneself by jumping surprise

    Interesting character, interesting bundle.

  • She sure looks good, but I would not really associate her with the Grim Reaper. The alternate shapes would help her qualify as Pestilence or Famine, but Death usually comes more... boney. But perhaps I am spoiled by Terry Pratchett's version

She looks like an OC I'm designing for a story I'm writing. (Except my OC represents "pestilence" and she's just some "pale goth woman" who works as a court mage.) But I have other extremely pale skins I'm planning to use.

I only like the Fefecoolyellow outfit and the add-on. How well does the Apocalypse Add-On work without Death 9, aside from the probable "missing textures" pop-up?

  • I have a somewhat unrelated question to this.  I notice on the base character, they used measure metrics for her stats.  Does that mean measure metrics have been updated to be used on G9 characters?

Sorta like 'Famine' in the Pratchett/Neil Gaiman book 'Good Omens' who was supposed to be the super-skinny supermodel lookalike CEO of a no-calorie food company producing 'MealsTM'. That would fit.

Not as far as I know.

And I'm not sure I would trust these numbers, at least not without checking them after buying a new character, if these measures were part of your decision process: as an example, Mira 9 is taller than her initial advertised height and Van Helsing 9 is smaller than her current advertised height (both have actually the same height when loaded side by side, as in, Genesis 9's default height) (I only checked height because I don't own the product you're speaking about, so, I can only easily check height).

Other 9 figures do have a different height compared to Genesis 9's default, one that seems to be the advertized height, so, who knows if, with the figures with mistakes, it was mistake done when measures are taken or when the final morphs are packaged.

I figure this question fits in this thread; any help ID'ing the bike 'Death' is riding in the main promo for Death 9 HD Starter Bundle?

It's a G9 product, what if you turn off the female and turn on the male settings? With the Deathly Drape mask it might make a more Pratchett-esque DEATH. (I'm sure I have a scythe somewhere in my runtime.)

Genesis 9 characters don't necessarly use the base feminine / masculine morph to achieve the final look.

  • Mr. Death at dinner.surprise

"Hey, I didn't eat the salmon mousse."

  • From the promo pictures, I really like her! She's at least not another look-alike G9 female figure.

One quick one before bed. I had to try Sandman's sister, but I don't have an ankh or a squiggly eyeliner! Swapped out eyebrows.

I love the hands, much bone. And there's RIBS. Yay!

  • I'm thinking the Evil Dead movies and I've done a few images with an Ash Williams with chainsaw hand before which on a side note won me a weekly PC comp here once

Anybody know who is the artist behind this model? Might be the first gen 9 figure that I would buy.

In response to a comment above about the Apocalypse add-on ... yes, it works fine to use on other characters without buying Death. The add-on has actor icons, its own body/head shapes, skin surfaces, normal maps, and eyelash texture. If you try to load the actor without owning Death you will get a LOT of errors because it tries to load the Death figure first and add the Apocalypse shape to that, and Death ain't home. If you load some other figure and then use "apply all Apocalypse mats" you'll only get two errors; there's an eye surface and a fingernail surface it expects to find in the missing Death mats. But those can easily be ignored.

The attachment shows Karmen with the Apocalypse shape, surfaces, and normal maps applied. (The normal normal maps. As seems to be the norm with G9, the HD normal maps icon is bugged and does not actually do anything.) It's not clear that her eyes are supposed to look like that since there's a missing Death surface in there, but you know how to apply some other eye surfaces ...

With the discounts I thought it was cheap at $28. I am a Daz+ member and I had 8 tokens, but I'm not sure how much they played into it. I'm also new to Daz so maybe $28 is considered a lot for the bundle?

I bought the three items I wanted from the bundle, plus Dain 9 Pro, because I really, really wanted those alternate shapes for him. The 60% off any G9 bundle deal seemed to work, even though Dain 9 doesn't show up if you click the link. I only had 5 tokens.

The discount from Dain Pro bundle is 50% off because you bought a new item, not because it was in the Genesis 9 bundles for buying Death. If you get one of those, they end up at 90% without tokens. Sadly the selection is very small and the 1/2 page is filled with mostly Victoria and Michael bundles. And debut new or recently new give you an EXTRA 50% OFF* any Non-new Release. Still, nice set of items you got at 82% Off. :)
