And some more renders showing the different fur colors available...
Alessandro,
This has gone straight to the top of next week's shopping list. Expect loads of cute little doggy renders in a week or so.
Any news on the Red Panda? That's the one I would like to see the most.
Cheers,
Alex.
So excited to finally get the wolf! Next to G3M, he's been my most anticipated release. He went straight in my cart and I'm really looking forward to rendering him. Thank You!
got him and have all kinds of plans for him
Yes. Yes! YES! I am free! Free from checking the store every morning waiting for the wolves to show up! FREE!
And the cubs are so--wait. This is the adult wolf. The cubs are still not released.
Crud.
P.S.: Really glad to see the wolf lives up to my (unreallistically high) expectations. I am guessing I will be buying any and all future add-ons and forever end my canine shortage. Also, any chance the iberian wolf will make an appearance?
This is the first time I'm considering purchasing an animal - looks seriously impressive.
Hoping for a cat btw (domestic for preference).
I note there were IRAY and 3Delight renders, will it render in IRAY out of the box?
The answer to your question is sort of. There is a video on the wolf's shop page which shows how to convert the animal to render in Iray. Apparently, the Iray render engine doesn't support a hair primitive so you have to do this before it will render.
Cheers,
Alex.
Dear Alex thanks, will be waiting for your striking renders as usual! Unfortunately not lot of progress on the red panda yet, but don't lose hope :)
Wolf cubs are still in production, but will come for sure at some time. I'm not sure I'll have energies to make the iberian wolf as well... but from what I see you could probably use the 'skinny body' provided with Wolf 2.0 and tweak the base texture, and shorten the fur length. For the rest it seems quite similar, maybe the muzzle and head are a tiny smaller...
nicstt and dkgoose, as Alex pointed out Iray doesn't work out of the box (i.e. natively) because no hair primitive exists in the Iray render engine yet. We can't wait to see it added so that it will work directly without the need of exporting to OBJ.
However, using LAMH figures with Iray isn't that difficult, besides the extra step of exporting to OBJ (which is accomplished clicking one button), and tweaking a little bit the materials the rest is straightforward. Please take a look at this movie I did, showing how to use the Wolf 2.0 with Iray:
Don't hesitate to ask if you need any help... Yes you need to confirm overwriting, those are basically temporary files that LAMH generates at export. So after you confirm overwrite, the procedure will continue and convert LAMH hair into geometry...
Ok thank you, sorry about that
No problem, I'm here if you need any help.
dkgoose sorry If I wrote something wrong... I wrote "don't bother to ask" while probably I should have said "don't hesitate to ask", as the first sentence was probably meaning that you shouldn't ask because you were bothering LOL. In any case, I corrected it, it will be my pleasure to answer to any inquiry.
This looks awesome as wolves are one of my favorite animals, so into the cart it goes.
I definitely echo nicstt's request for a domestic cat...that would be an instant buy, too.
Thanks again for your hard work.
Excellent — I'm about to buy this later tonight. This looks about the most realistic wolf model I've seen so far.
BTW, if you're taking suggestions for add-ons, how about a Maned Wolf (a.k.a "foxes on stilts")?
You probably can't guess but I like wolves and will be getting this so---- next time I check out.
It's not a problem :) other addon wishlist are more poses, maybe a howling pose like the first wolf had, and a set for when the Cubs come out some family poses
Well that was an instant buy for me, thanks! :D
Looks pretty good! Will have to spend some time tweaking the surfaces for iray, but so far exactly what I was hoping to see for a while now :D
The nice thing is the Wolf could work for several dog breeds as well such as the Malamute, Sibe, even a white shepherd. The shape and head is better than the Mill dog. That will make us dog lovers happy! :)
This is fantastic! I just followed your video for how to get the fur to work on your awesome foxes. I'd not been able to do it before. Thank You so much, Alessandro! I'm off to buy the wolf. PLEASE make a cat! I use Mil Cats alot and would love to fuzz them up! Denise
Why not use the Mill cat preset and the free LAMH player for a little fluff in a pinch? If you have the full LAMH package you can do the hair on the cat yourself. The Mill cat is not that bad, when compared to the Mill Dog! So you've got something to work with ...
Agreed The freebie Mill Cat presets (long and short fur) over at AM's site is pretty good! I use it all the time. In fact, since I found it, I use the old Mill Cat more than ever. There's also a freebie preset for the old mill dog too - which looks fantastic on the german shepherd: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/76978
I just picked the Wolf up yesterday YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY - you don't know HOW long I've been waiting for a brilliant real looking wolf like this - my hunters and rangers have been bugging me for so long to have their wolf companion LOL.
loving the new wolf as does my mother she loves wolves and been wanting me to do some pictures of her with wolves for long time either by my usual photo manipultaions or via daz which thanks to you (and headshop9 to create her) I now have a really nice looking wolf can pose so this is the first render of my mother with your new wolf and she loves it
btw yes lots have asked if you could do more dogs guess you could use wolf as base for some, as well as domestic cats but there is also another animal I think many ould love from you and think you could give serious competition to to the one on that other site and daz should commission you to do as their offical 3rd version and that is a new horse with different breeds and textures including zebra, of course we need someone to do good saddles and other addons too
Bought it the first day it came out. This is truly good. I just wish I could use it in Poser, but this might finally be the product that forces me to use Daz Studio. Will it work in Carrara? I should give that a shot....
Anyway, thank you so much for giving us an updated, realistic wolf!
If you use Carrara fur instead, load the Poser version
