Hi everyone,I am thinking of upgrading my graphics Card from a Nvidia 12 gig RTX 3060 to a RTX 16 gig 4070.Does anyone have a 4070 installed and does it help to reduce render timesl? I have 128 gigs of RAM and I mainly render animation in png. Cheers

As of now, NVIDIA hasn't released a 16GB version of the RTX 4070, but there is a 16GB version of the RTX 4060 Ti. I am personally rendering with both an RTX 4060 Ti and an RTX 3060, paired with 128GB of RAM, similar to your setup. The RTX 4060 Ti does offer an adequate performance improvement (probably around 10%?), but things seem a bit faster and smoother with iRay in the viewport.
Should NVIDIA release a 16GB version of the RTX 4070, that would be a good upgrade, especially if it is priced sensibly (lol). Overall, despite the slight performance increase, I think it is worth getting the 4060 solely because of the 16GB.
Unless I have made a mistake in my calculations, the RTX 4060 Ti might be faster than I previously suggested - about 22% faster instead of around 10%.
I just completed a 16-minute test render using both GPUs (16GB 4060 Ti and 12GB 3060) and examined the log file. The RTX 4060 Ti completed 10,171 iterations, while the RTX 3060 finished 8,328 iterations. The RTX 4060 Ti outperformed by handling roughly 22% more of the workload than the RTX 3060.
Hi everyone,
Just swapped my MSI RTX 3060 12gb for a MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super 16gb. I use my rig only for DAZ.
The rational behind is an improvement in render times and more fluent working when setting up scene lighting in Iray mode. And I did not want to buy one of the dinosaurs because of budget.
A loaded scene with 5 characters (2x Genesis 9 and 3x Genesis 8.1) plus some architecture and plants:
RTX 3060 -> 16min 56 sec
RTX 4070 -> 6min 6 sec
So my first impressions are very positive. I also ran the Benchmarking from this forum before and after the swap, I will post the results within the next days.
Greetings
