Loading Multiple JCMs

Hi,

I'm only a beginner at this, but as I understand it, to load a JCM-type morph for a clothing item, you have to first bend the joint of the figure the cloth is fitted to, before loading the cloth morph - correct?

Now if I have a whole lot of JCMs to load, that can be tedious.   And yet it's clear that Morph Loader Pro is designed to load multiple morphs all at once.   So, is it possible to load a whole set of JCMs without doing all the different joint bends on the figure?  If so how?

[ Incidentally I've already noticed in Morph Loader Pro, that under 'Reverse Deformations' (which of course must be set to 'yes'), there a 2 sub-options: 'Preserve Existing Deltas' (which I don't understand) and 'Pose'.  I thought perhaps this 'Pose' option was for JCMs but no pose I load for this seems to work. ]

  • Well, if you are loading a Joint Controlled Morph you will at first have had to have made it.  A simple morph might take a few minutes, a more complicated one maybe several hours.  So you will need to have loaded it individually in any case just to test that it works.  The tedium of loading a JCM is the least of it!

JCMs and MCMs need to be loaded into the figure using the precise configurations the morph is designed to correct, using reverse deformations, so these usually have to be done individually.  If you have three or four different morphs for a 90 degree right elbow bend then you could load those together, but this isn't a very likely scenario.

I am not sure what 'Preserve Existing Deltas' means in this context, but a delta is the shift in position of a vertex - a relative rather than an absolute value.

The official DAZ documentation for JCMs is here:

I assume, you made morphs (to use them as JCMs ) of clothing, not of your Acotr  figure,  but adjust shape from pozing figure,

then now try to load thes morphs at once, with reverse defomation.  (then serch way to make moprh which include delta from  each pozing at once,,)

unfortunately the "pose" option can not work as you expected.   sad

The pose option work if you make JCMs ( you will manually set them with each rig rotation) ,  with pozing your "clothing" without figure,

then save each clothing pose with rig rotation.(or scale,I do not know,,)

,(you plan to set Erc afrer loading morphs,, then change as JCMs, ,  then make many morphs.

the pose files are  need to save for the clothing (or figure which you load morph by morph loader pro)

as your case,,, you seems apply pose preset of figure,,, it may not work correctly for your clothing as same .  and with keep clothing  "fit to" Actor.

(though reverse defomation work correclty,, but you can not use the "pose" option as you planed,, at least,

you need to non fit clothing from your actor,, then clothing can pose by these pose preset (for Actor))

the pose option is useful, when you make many JCMs for Actor rigs rotation,

then save each actor pose with rig rotation . ( abdomen X rotate 40,  or head  y rotate 30)

and load them at once, with each pose + reverse defomation option.

(after all we manually set ERC one by one, for each rig rotation, then turn them as useful JCMs though,,)

I have never tried the "pose" option of morph loader, for clothing morphs and Pose preset, but about Actor figure, it work as expected.

    1. bend abcomen 40 save pose preset bend40.duf

2 export current posing shape, then tweak and make morph (for JCM ) then save it as JCMbend40.obj

3 bned abdomen  -40 save pose preset bend-40.duf

4 export current posing shape,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,then save it as JCMbend-40.obj

5 select actor with zero morph in daz studio , (you may better reset pose too first , after all you apply pose,,)

then  open morph loader pro, then select two objs, and set each option one by one.

( you must need set ,"reverse defomation" and "pose" one by one,, )

then make new morphs .  each morph should work as you expected, when you set each  pose.
