Shader Help Please

Human Figure, pale skin, how?

Starting with the non Iray type shader - most of my mats are this format so I would like to learn this first then the Iray settings after. I can get some pretty good results using the 255:255:255 & displacement strength settings, but what other settings can I play with? The idea of very pale skin is interesting, but I can't achieve it.

Would be gratefull for help.

Thanks

In this gallery are hundreds of digital skin textures ... HoboBo

One uses an image editor and the seams/templates for the figure to make the skin texture images first. They can be as light or dark as you want them to be.

  • Hello & thank you for your reply.

I am looking, at this stage, to adjust textures that I have purchased rather than produce textures.

Well you mention making shaders ... possibly that is not what you meant then. A shader can be applied to any model.

Okay so you start with the pale texture image you have purchased and adjust the dials on the Surfaces Tab. If that's not making it pale enough, then you can take a "copy" of the texture images into your image editor and try lightening them there. Just whatever you do to one, do to all so they'll match.

You could look at the settings that come with the various textures you have purchased. One can mix 'n match at times to have the dial settings of one with the texture images of the other.

If you achieve any results that you want to keep, then those can be saved out as shader presets or material presets.

Another factor for how a skin will look in a render is the lighting used.
