Database is pooched

I am starting to have a hard time with my database.  Recently I've noticed that when I download a purchase and install it using the install manager, that the product does not appear in the Smart Content or in the content library, although I can sometimes find it under the Categories.  Sometimes.  When I add something to "Products" it does not appear.  (Windows 10, Daz Studio 4.8 64bit)

I have also noticed that things are not properly categories in the "Categories" section.

When I reset my database and then re-imported the metadata, same thing, and that is without the userdata, which has a lot of information.

Any suggestions or log files I could look at?

Thank you.

  • If it's not appearing in the Content Library, under Poser Formats or DAZ Studio Formats, then the issue isn't the database as those reflect the files on disc. If that is what you are getting it suggests the installation path is not correct.

It shows for old products, just not new.  It is like the content database is full or not accepting new entries.  I am not out of drive space.

Not going to happen unless you  ARE out of drive space.

If it isn't showing in the Content Library, then like Richard said, it's a path/install location issue...probably installing to a location that DIM knows but Studio doesn't.

    So I completely uninstalled Daz3 64bit (and 32 bit)

    Removed the content manager completely.

Downloaded Daz3d 64bit 4.8 and installed it (which also installed the PostGRESQL CMS, something I don't think I had).  Then I reimported my metadata and viola!  Everything shows up and it looks like everything is there EXCEPT my custom files (created "products"), of which there are quite a few.

Now I did export my user data to UseDat_1.dsx (inside My Library> Runtime > Support).  So I tried to import my User files.  Nothing.  Now I could spend the next couple months classifying things again but my cursing will likely require I repaint my office.

    Any suggestions?

  • Where is your Runtime\Support folder? Is it directly in a content directory?

Yes, the runtime folder is located inside my content.  *\My Library\Runtime\Support\UserData_2.dsx (and UserData_OLD.dsx), it is also pulling from another directory with Scenes\Runtime\Support\UserData_1.dsx

I have made a copy of that file for backup and renamed it.  Now it sees 3 files in two different locations but it imports none of them.  I also used an older UserDat_1.dsk file which didn't work.

In the Import Metadata it shows

    User Data
         UserData1
         UserData OLD
         UserData 2

  • I've had the same problem. My C drive is a small SSD, so my library is on my 1TB D drive. About the last two weeks, new files have been installing correctly to D, but the metadata points to the C drive.

  • What security software are you using?

  • I'm using VIPRE internet security for Win 10. Also, the problem only affects recent releases, new downloads of older releases (like PC+ bundles) work fine.
  • Not heard of that - I don't know if it might be an issue or not.

I'm using MS Essentials for security.  Like Harvell, I'm redirecting to my D: drive because my C: is a small SSD.

Right now my only problem is it will not import my custom userdata_1.dsx file with my customizations.
