Quick Question about Content Library (yes another one of those)

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,404

I bought a pose set from a 3rd party and have tried and tried to load it but couldn't find it in my content library. In fact, no folders in my content library are visible. I am only able to work with items in Smart Content. In Content Library, Clicking the up folder arrows and folder forward and back arrows reveal nothing. Unless I click on the Render tab then its folders and content galore. I know I'm doing something wrong or am an inch from my biggest LIGHTS ON since I started. My biggest struggle so far has been clicking and clicking all over till eventually something happens but that approach doesn't really learn me nothin. Can someone hold my wittle hand on this real quick? Thanks!!!

For your problem with the Content Library folders, I suggest you contact DAZ Help.  Once you get that fixed (or they point you to the correct location), you should be able to see your other items.

    • DAZ stuff will be under Content Library, Products, and listed alphabetically under A...Z.  OR
    • DAZ stuff will also be under Content Library, My DAZ 3D Library, and in the subfolders there.  You will find the shaders under Shader Presets and Shaders.
    • Stuff from Hivewire (like the Hivewire Horse) will be under Content Library, My DAZ 3D Library, Animals, HiveWireHorse.

Stuff from Renderosity, Runtime DNA, Share CG or most other sites will be under Content Library, Poser Formats, My DAZ 3D Library, then under subfolders.  It's not intuitive.  You will find Hair under Figures rather than Hair, then the hair colors under Pose (??? yeah, go figure).  Consult your 3rd Party Readme to find the location.  I keep notes as to where stuff is located in Notepad txt files with each item's name.

    Good luck.

Will I get a person with DazHelp or just an automated message telling me to try the forum? I ask because I assume the software download is pretty standard and I must be doing something wrong. User level error. I'd search "content library help" in forum search but I'll get 100,000 hits on content, library and help. I'm not dumb. I have figured out things before but I'm starting to feel like working with Daz is like trying to become a Freemason. The forum is great but approaching the company? I dunno.

Relax, I do it all the time.  You get more than one email - the first is the automated acknowledgement, then you get a tech (a real person!) who emails you about the details.  If it is straightforward, the email says that your request has been updated.  Click on the link in the email and it will take you to your request where the tech has made comments.  I've had conversations that lasted over several emails.  It's not over until you check the box "Request is deemed Solved" and submit.

Find it here:  Help is next to Forums in the menu at the top of the website.  Then click Help Center.  On the right is a blue box, under Contact Us, is Submit a Help Request.  Be specific in the detail section.  Include screen prints.

DAZ takes some patience to learn and lots of practice.  I have learned from forums, yes, but some of the best instruction comes from the tutorials. Dreamlight is the best, but wait until his stuff goes on sale.  You can get a $80 tutorial for 75% off sometimes.

Speaking of sales, DAZ has a few big sales of the year:  March, Platinum (October-November), Black Friday and Christmas.  You find your best sales during these times.  Each time they have a running sale, they bring in different items each day, and eventually there is a last day sale where all items go back on sale.  Black Friday and Christmas will last about a week a piece.

It sounds like your Content Library pane is closed up, can you please post an image of what you are seeing?   The Content Library should display everything that you have in your 'My DAZ 3D library' folder, it does not rely on Metadata, as long as you have told DS where the folder is.

Go to Edit > Preferences Content Library > Content Directory Manager and makle sure that the paths are correct for your setup.  Post an image of that as well if you are not sure.
