Toning down one-click expressions that don't come with dials

Many pose sets include one-click expressions but no dials. Some of these expressions could be great in smaller doses but at 100% are a little overwrought for my taste. Does anyone know of a utility that could help adjust these or a way to create a dial for them? I tried the Bone Doctor Relax Pose, which works great for poses but doesn't do much/anything for expressions (nor does its name suggest that it should - I just gave it a try).
I searched around the Daz forums and found a previous, brief thread on the subject from the New Users forum from years ago but nothing else.

What if you set the key on the first frame with the default facial pose, go 30 or 40 frames into the timeline and apply the expression, then you should be able to scroll through the timeline and find somewhere in-between that could work.
I am also not a fan of one click expression presets. I find that except when used on the shape it was designed for (mostly the base shape) then the expression often ends up looking toonish.
You can create your own dials for any expression, you should be able to find a tutorial to explain how to do this. Alternatively use this product: https://www.daz3d.com/dial-fusion-for-genesis-2-to-81 or https://www.daz3d.com/dial-fusion-genesis-9-edition which should make the process easier.
Easy to create on single expression dial - "One-Click" first, Edit mode in Params. Pane, create a property and ERC Freeze.

The Puppeteer tool, located under Window -> Panes (Tabs) -> Puppeteer, is excellent for fine-tuning and blending one-click expressions. First, pose your figure and prepare it for the expression you wish to apply. Then, in Puppeteer, add dots in 'Edit' mode for each expression (you may only want to use one). In 'Preview' mode, you can smoothly transition between these expressions on the grid by using the mouse: left-click and hold as you drag the smaller dot across the grid. In this manner, you can also adjust the strength of the one-click expression. The Puppeteer tool is valuable for posing and movement requirements like this.
