Categories folder

Is the "Categories" folder only for DAZ content or will poser runtime folders work?

"Categories" isn't actually a folder on the filesystem, it's a reference in the database a "table" , so yes you can categorize anything you want. :)

I've been working on my extensive collection of freebies for a few days now.

  • It seems that alot of my Poser folders appear empty and I know these are files in there!?

Can  you post a screen shot of your mapped content folders (Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager...expand them first).

Here is Adman's directory - I have both the Directory and the DAZ view - hope this is enough to see what I mean.

Image not working let me see what the problem is.

  • How did you make the category? Ddi you right-click on a folder in the ... Formats sections? if so it looks as if you have the wrong thing set as a content directory - in your screen shot the !!!!!_AdMan_Horse_Runtime would be a Poser Formats content directory.

  • I add the base directory in the main Poser directory then right click and select create catagory from this folder and subfolders.

  • So you are right-clicking on the base directory, not on a folder in a library? That may be the issue - I just successfully tried on a Poser folder but it was inside the Figures library, not a base directory

  • OK so I need to not select the main folder but each folder beneath or the actual runtime folder?

  • Yes, I think so.

  • I just tried it with a directory called Wild West, the way I was doing it one folder didn't even show up - it was a Environment folder. So I just selected the environment folder and it showed up with the content visible. I have so many runtimess that I'm going to have to rethink the entire system.

Thanks Richard! Your always so helpful.

As I was writing I thought that I could still use the main folder but not to add "all sub-folders" while creating, then add the sub-folders one at a time to the empty catagory. it will take some time but at least the content will show up!!!!!!

  • You can right-click in the Create Category dialogue to add a new category if yu want, not need to create it by making a category from an empty folder first.
