Can't get figures to delete

I am having a problem getting things (figures do this more than anything) to delete from any of my scenes that I try to edit. I can sometimes get them to delete, but it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours., but usually it just keeps working and never stops until I end task in the task manager. Also, any time I do ANYTHING in Daz for the past couple of months, it says on the header "Daz (either 4.8 or 4.9) not responding" for several minutes before it does what it is tasked to do. I am running windows 10 on an ASUS G750 Notebook equipped with an i7 processor and a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 860m video card. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

I don't know ... with the figure selected I just hit the delete key on the keyboard and "poof".
