Creating Crowd?

Any tips on this? I'm loading a figure into daz 4.8, creating some instances, moving them into random positions, and then applying a walk aniblock. Hope this works. Figure it's a quick way to turn a handful of characters into 15-20 walking figures. Is there a way to reduce resolution if they are in the distance to save on computer rendering time?

    Don't forget Loretta!

Or, you can get the bundle.

My crowd is the crew of a space station and needs to be wearing the same space uniform...so those items won't work. I'm interested in doing what I wrote above, but with lower res figures...is that possible.?

  • You want to look into using Decimator and Texture Atlas

Whoa, wasn't Decimator a lot cheaper than that???

I checked- they sold it as a bundle in the Game Developer Kit, with Decimator, Texture Atlas for DAZ Studio, and FBX Plug-in for DAZ Studio

Like you, I often use Node Instances.  These create copies of the object without (at least in my experience) adding much if any computational load.
