Could really use some help with Dson

Hey Guys:

I've been using DAZ 64bit for about a year now and I like it very much.

I recently got a great deal on Poser 10 but in 32 bit. Both are installed

on the same PC (Win 7 Pro 64 bit) and both are working fine.

I'm having trouble however getting DSON installed in Poser. It won't work

through DAZ Install Manager as My Daz is 64bit and Poser is 32 bit.

I manually downloaded the 32bit version of DSON and it appeared to install

correctly in my Poser 10 folder. I know I also need Genesis Starter Essentials

for Poser and  Genesis Starter Essentials (which is already in DAZ).

I don't know what I did wrong but now every time I launch Poser I get an error:

An errror occurred importing addon dson :
ERROR: No module named dzdsonimporter

And, I'm not seeing Starter Essentials in Poser.

I would really appreciate your input as I am totally confused at this point.

Thank you,

Robert

  • In Poser, do you have a Scripts>DSON Support menu? What path did you set for Poser in the preferences of Install Manager?

As an aside, it's the DSON Importer for Poser  -DSON is the Daz Studio file format, the plug-in allows some files in that format to be used in Poser.

It doesn't make any difference that Studio is 64 bit, it isn't connected to DIM.  Tell DIM where Poser 11 is installed in the Application tab and then download and install the 32 bit DSON Importer plug-in.

Thanks for getting back to me Richard. It's appreciated.

I think I need to go back to the beginning of this and start again.

My OS is 64 bit and so is DAZ but Poser 10 was only available in 32 bit. That doesn't make much sense.

My Daz Install Manager won't let me install (from it) a 32 bit Dson importer for Poser, it keeps trying to install

the 64 bit version which fails. I manually downloaded and installed the 32 bit importer and that is where I have to

go back to in order to find my error(s).  I'll let you know what happens.

  • DIM should let you install the 32 bit version of the importer, as long as you tell it (in the Applications tab odf preferences) that you are using a 32 bit version.
