ND Demonizer Shapes for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D

This is a nice product, and I had my hopes up, but I'm very dissapointed because the one shape I really wanted from the promo image above is not one of the morphs.

It does come with a muscular shape, but it looks nothing even close to the promo image.

Before anyone asks, I should mention I have the required products for Demonizer Shapes, so I don't think it's something I'm missing.

Is there a figure with this exact shape that is in a Genesis 9 character or figure to purchase separately?

I don't have it but the description does list three other products which were used in the creation of the promo images - albeit only in reference to textures. However, it may have been that they also dialed in the morph of the last one, Milo, at some combination to add a bit more bulk? If you already have that figure you could try it?

Hi, I made that promo for Nathy and I used one of the shapes on her pack. It was shape number 2 (not sure if the names of the shapes were changed) and he's wearing NDFP Akhane for Genesis 9 https://www.daz3d.com/ndfp-akhane-for-genesis-9 skin. The normal maps and displacement maps of this skin contribute to the musculature. I will ask Nathy if that particular shape made it through testing.

OK, I asked Nathy what shape number 2 was renamed as and she says it's Alastor. So Alastor + Akhane Skin should be giving you that shape.

Thank you for the response. I will try that.

Just to clarify, Milo is linked because many of the promos for the demonizer shape include ND Milo's and ND Liloo's skins. :)

Thank you. May I make a suggestion to you to possibly release a seperate figure in the future that looks like the build in the promo image. It doesn't necessarily have to have glowing eyes or tattoos, just the same build and proportions. I'd be the first in line to buy it.

I really like the build on this character with the extra definition. There seems to be a lack of this type of hyper muscular male figure on Genesis 9. It seems to be mostly thinner models, and of the few that are really muscular, like the Swole figure, seem way too exaggerated in my opinion.

You did a really nice job on the promo image!

Thank you, @Von Hobo, I agree these types of characters are not as common, though Thimor comes to mind as a close type. Having said that, while Akhane did good, Liloo and Milo didn't sell all that well. And even though NDFP Akhane sold well and I had a lot of fun working on that, the time investment vs money earned made it clear that character-making is not that profitable compared to other types of items in my catalog.

And since I do this for a living, I had to make the hard choice of dropping out of some collaborations I had planned with Nathy, including creating a demon character with this particular shape. Demonizer was supposed to be the first step, and the character was going to tie to this product, but things didn´t pan out. So I suggested to Nathy to create a Demonizer Shape pack instead. And she did a great job adding quite a range in terms of body types for it too.

I totally understand. You are very talented and it's great you can do this for a living, but that comes with some tough choices I imagine as time is limited.

I am a full time artist myself with oil paintings, and I know firsthand how hard it is to judge what sells and what doesn't. I use DAZ as some of my reference for my paintings, so it has come in quite handy. But I spend too much on 3D stuff because it is like an addiction, but a fun one!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! I own about 15 of your products. Some of my favorites are Bullwarg textures and the gunshot wound and blood shells.

And I just added Colorful Tattoos to my WishList. :)

I wanted to say I'm really impressed by how active I'm seeing the artists being lately in jumping in to answers questions and help out.  It really does create a more welcoming environment, and wanted to let you know I appreciate it (and compliment you on your own work, VERY nice).

Has there been thought given to a form of crowdfunding - think HasLabs - for production of less mass-market appeal projects?  As a producer, you need to make what pays your bills.  At the same time, there are some more niche projects I could certainly see "sponsoring" at a higher level to later be sold.  This way, you get a return on your time no matter what, while residual income could potentially come in afterwards.  This isn't entirely a new concept, especially on Patreon and various commission work, but something that may have some legs if properly coordinated.

@Van Hobo, indeed, there are so many variables to what sells and what doesn't, and that makes it difficult to gauge if it was something with the product, the prize, the timing, or the promotion it launched with. I'm happy to hear that some of our products have been useful, and I thank you for the support! Bullwarg's Alternate Textures was our first time doing skins and we had to do it on a very tight deadline, but it was super fun to work with! Since that became a buyout, I can't move it forward to Genesis 9, but I do intend to transfer Reptilian´s skins to G9 and work on the soft transition products for both G8 and G9. Of course, we plan to finish the Scars and Wounds series first (Esid already finished the HD Morphs, so I need to build the textures and presets). We plan also to do the shotgun wounds for G9 as well :).

@Phoenix Knight, thank you for your nice words. I always have an eye on the forums and help whenever I can (be that troubleshooting my products or other issues) because I remember that when I started my journey with DAZ, I got a lot of help from people in the forums. So this is my way to contribute and pay it forward. Regarding Partreon, Esid (my brother) and I considered it, but neither of us is too keen to dip back into social media (which is seriously a full-time job). There's also the issue that many of our products require HD Morphs, which can only be sold in this marketplace. That said, we are not entirely close off to setting a partreon, but we would need to sit down and discuss how to make it work while submitting enough products here to help us pay our bills.

If you have any suggestions for products, feel free to reach out. I can't 100% assure you we will do them, but they can always make their way into our (extensive) to-do list. :)

I work in marketing, so completely understand how complicated social can get (and you don't want to put too much effort into something without an appropriate return).  Just pure brainstorming, there are two different routes I'm thinking of (patreon just being one potential).

Route 1 - Open up to specific commissions that someone could pay for upfront, then allow you to post in stores to your heart's content for any additional revenue.  This way you get your return upfront.

Quick example of this might be I want a six-headed Hydra compatible with https://www.daz3d.com/hh-wyvern (I do actually want this).  You tell me you can do it, would take you eight hours of work (one working day), and want to earn $50 per hour (so total project would be $400).  I pay you at least 50% upfront for your work, then you post it in the store for additional sales revenue.

I could see promotion of this as simple as a pinned post in the forums of artists who are open to doing this, with basic project types info (probably avoid explicit rates as those will vary project to project and could get sticky with competitive nature).

Route 2 - Crowdfunding.  Kickstarter could be a quick, down-and-dirty way to get this started.  I put HasLabs out there as an example of how they propose a project, but don't really start it until they get enough committed buys to put the work into it.

Using the same project above, maybe you decide this would be cool to do on your own, but don't know if you could justify the time spent.  You have the same estimate of 8 hours of work at $50/hour, so you want a return of $400 minimum.  You put the option out there for people to "pre-buy" to gauge interest (fully refundable if it doesn't materialize, of course), and only commit your time if it reaches the $400 minimum income where you feel it would be valuable.  Again, this way you get paid upfront, and can put it in stores afterwards for residuals as appropriate.

Ideal would be for Daz (or one of the other big stores) to integrate this functionality into their own systems themselves for easier visibility and legitimacy, but it could work with just about any crowdfunding 3rd party program.  You'd just have to put some extra time into posting on the forums, or Reddit, or the like to let people know of the option.

@Phoenix Knight, those are some excellent ideas. I'll have to share them with Esid to see what pans out later in the year for sure. Add-Ons for already released figures are tricky. DAZ usually only accepts add-ons when released alongside the base product, as that's when they get the best revenue. That said, there have been add-ons done for already released products, so it's a case-by-case thing. In our experience, add-ons for our own products tend to do much better than add-ons for base products done by other PAs. For the latter, the biggest revenue is when it launches, but after that, it hardly generates revenue, so those types of add-ons tend to be a labor of love more than good business. This is in regards to the Hydra you mentioned, of course.
