I swore after buying a couple thngs, I would not invest more money into Genesis 8 since all of the products were new to me anyway, I was going to focus in Genesis 9...
But this was in the store for $6 bucks. And I caved. Character, Hair, and two (2) complete clothing items! What a deal!
(And what little willpower I have these days)

It's OK, you're allowed to swear now :) Hopefully no-one over heard you and even if they did they should mind their own busines anyway.
You are right tho, that was a good deal :)
I hear ya, i am focused on only purchasing G9 content and so far that is working well for me. Seen a few G8 things I liked, but I need to stick to my principles
I thought that was going to be an admission to a juicy crime... but I'm glad you saved some money... and also, probably that no one was harmed... probably.
I have not yet downloaded the G9 essentials. I do want someof the G9 outfits, but only after I have clones to make them work on G8 and before - I think I will buy this item sometime soon: https://www.daz3d.com/mmx-genesis-9-clones-for-all
LOL! Okay, I swear....NOW!
You're so much stronger than me, apparently. I was good for a bit... LOL
LOL... Well my bank card is getting juicy from all the squeezing it's endured. Does that count?
I really like G9 alot. And I actually have a lot of morph packs for G8, for some reason I don't understand, because I barely have content for it. Like 3 clothes and two characters... LOL.. So, it just didn't make sense to me to buy G8 when everything coming out (and on sale) was G9. Plus I like G9 better. I feel like (with it's morph packs and a couple characters) it's just a better figure. I like it a lot!
See I wanna do opposite of that. I've been trying to learn how to move everything to G9! LOL
Willpower is overrated. Come to the dark side and join us.
I love your attitude. You've been such a positive force since your return. Thank you!
I have felt the shadows closing in already! LOL
Awww.... Thanks, xyer0! You're pretty cool, too!
Looks like that Crocodile Liu has some other great hair at the price point, Hotba Hair for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females
I have been trying to get stuff that works with 8 & 9 when possible.
I use them all
rendered V3 and M3 in my last video
I have bought quite a bit of G9 stuff too
but
Yeah I need to stop spending so much
Yeah, I saw that! But my bank card really is juicy from all the crying it's doing now! LOL. I really *must* not buy more. LOL
Oh man! ME too!!!! Maybe we should form an alliance to keep ourselves reasonable....??? Idk LOL.
A) I don't think willpower and DAZ can exist on the same plane... I think it's some cosmic law?
B) Those shadows of the dark side closing in are due to all our virtual stuff getting piled up around us, um, virtually... Thankfully I, and I think Paula and others too, remedy that by buying lots of endless lighting sets...
I was wondering why I felt compelled to buy all those lighting sets last month.
There was a DAZaholics Anonymous thread a while back, but I think it had the opposite effect.
This year I hid every item in the store I wasn't interested in, and put anything I might buy in my wishlist. I hid over 99% of the store. And I still blew through my budget...
...as to the OP hair is one of the easiest things to cross fit simply by doing so manually and parenting it (which preserves the original morphs). I've been doing so since the Gen4 days. For clothing, I believe there is a conversion script to G9 as wll as g8 clones. So purchasing G8 contrnt (other than characters) is still a good piururchase if you see something you like (and often time is discounted during sales. pniceyl so whne they break it up it year ranges with progressively better discounts.
The G8 character in the attachment below uses G3 clothing, accessories, hair, and even skin map.
I think you're missing out on some very nice and useful things by ignoring pre-Gen9 releases, though you are definitely saving some of your budget by that decision. But, there are converters in every direction nowadays, so what generation a product is doesn't mean too much. The only consideration is whether you like/need the product and think it's a reasonable price considering your budget.
Ah Salvation! I see it now! LOL
LOL@ opposite effect! Yeah... getting addicts together doesn't always help, does it?
Yeah... I agree. That's why I have sooooo much hair, probabally. I never feel like it's a waste. Kinda like buying food. Anybody else do that? Spend money on food because it's not "wasting it"? LOL
yeah... That's kinda what I was thinking when I bought it.... Plus, she reminded me of Aiko 3 and I kinda missed her... LOL
I have clearly delineated rules for procurement that include acceptable discount and total cost of item. That governs my spending and keeps everything under control - depending on your definition of control. Unfortunately, over time, a few desirable items have vanished from the store before I got them. I guess it's ok. DIM tells me I have almost 4000 items in my library. That does not include items from other stores, freebies, etc. I;m not done though, at least judging by my wishlist. Seems like madness. And yet, I'm frequently told my library is on the small side. Someone here has said that buying stuff and rendering stuff are two different activities. That sounds about right!
I don't know if I have rules that go beyond... " I can only spend this much". BUT - I am ALWAYS looking for a bargain. I was almost delirious when xmas stuff was .99 cents before Dec. even started! OMG! Then when all those other things were $2.99... Seriously, felt like Christmas came early...
THEN- there was the advent calendar. Some people did not enjoy it, I guess, but because I am a bargain hunter, I rarely spent more than $4 or $5 bucks, usually only $1 or $2 and the next day. *poof* something awesome from my wishlist! Maybe it was good to be gone all that time because things that are a few years old to everyone else still felt like "NEW" to me and I was almost drunk with all the cool sh*t I got. LOL I did buy BUY a couple things... (buy BUY meaning I "needed" them) like the morphs for Genesis 9 when they went on sale. With my advent coupon, it cost me like $16 for the bundle and then I got Raw Art's, Oakley - because... seriously? a "handmade" wooden puppet? yeah... HAD to have that! LOL
But mostly... I AM frugal... LOL
With respect to some who report trying all of the right steps and still not having happy outcomes, the Advent sale was pretty cool. :) For a minimal daily outlay, I got useful freebies almost every day, up through G8-era, and the only reason I didn't get "woohoo!" freebies was because I had just bought most of the DOs of that era that I thought I needed, lol. It was a great time to be new, or newly home, around here.
I got a couple things that were G8... I got both Tobyn and Caryn (babies) and a couple outfits, but most of what I got was for G2... and actually, I loved it! I like G2 because it takes the original Genesis stuff pretty easily and I like doing "toons" and I just think G2 is a perfect "toony" figure, so I was quite happy.
And yes... a good time to come home.
...I still like working with Aiko3. In the last week of the Holiday Sale one of the clothing bundles for her (which I didn't have) was in the Lightning Deals (first time anything on that interested me since it started), so I picked it up for 1.65$.
Isn't that great!? I love those < $2 Lightening Deals! And yeah, Aiko is so cute. I have so much for her, but I still have to install all her stuff from my old hardrive... I feel like I'm never going to get everything reinstalled! It's so much sorting and deciding and figuring out if things still work... LOL
Don't forget there are ways of getting A3 to wear V3, M3, V4, M4, G3F, G3M, G8F and G8M stuff too. You may be able to make it so A3 can wear G9 stuff too. In theory the possibility is there, but I've not tried it.
Regards,
Richard.
Yeah, I'm trying to figure that stuff out now as I try to learn how to make clothes fit G9. I'm not always too crazy about the way auto fit adjusts things so I've been trying to get my head around some other ways of fitting clothes that are more akin to a "creator" skill set... but, it's a lot to learn! Especially since I hadn't really got my head wrapped around things back when Poser was still required. But,this way, I figure I'll get a chance to get familiar with the tools needed before "actually diving in" to making my own... and I'll have a large wardrobe for all my favorite characters!
There's just so much to catch up on! New clothes (dForce) new hair (strand based) new shaders and render engine (iray) new figures (G2-G9) ... I feel wayyyy behind. LOL
