having trouble with CMS DAZ Studio 4.8-solved

Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,641

Hi:

I'm having trouble with my CMS. It has sporadically turned itself off. I am using windows 8.1  runing 4.8 studio. What happens is the green button to start CMS appears, I click on it, and it does nothing.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling DAZ studio. The DIM Version reinstalls but CMS still wont start. I then tried the manual version but it hangs upon installation.

Is there anything I can do? This problem happened quite suddenly.

What AV/Security software are you running...

And does the Studio log file have any error messages related to CMS or is there anything in Windows Event Viewer?

I have symantec antivirus. I have always had it.

I am not really quite sure what that all means, but I See this about cms in my log file

I've found similar errors Googling that one...but no real solutions.  One suggestion was checking permissions...but if was working before, it is doubtful that permissions changed on their own.  Another was looking for other instances of Postgre...as two different versions can cause problems.

You don't have 4.8 and the beta 4.9 installed by any chance?

But other than that, I couldn't find much else.

I'd say if you don't get any more responses, open bug report.

Is it possible that you had the 64-bit version of Postgres installed and somehow replaced it with the 32-bit? The warning looks a lot like what you are running now wants 2 GB and the database says it's 4 GB.

Well, after struggling at uninstalling and reinstalling it, {For some reason DAZ really wants to be on the C drive, despite my attmptes to put it on E, since C is a small Solid State drive} it finally works. It is sitting on C, with PostgreSQL CMS. the CMS would not work until I reset my database and reimported. But now appears to be working.

    Thanks for your time.

You can move the database, but it's not really worth it. I've got over 6,000 items installed, and the whole database takes a whopping 2 GB.
