No shadows on the floor

Hello, I need some help about the shadow. I'm working on a scene and, in my first attemps, I was able to get the characters and objects shadows on the ground using a Distant Light, setting Ray Traced as 'shadows type". However, now that I want to render different scenes I can't to show the shadows anymore, although I've settled the same parameters. I really don't understand where I'm wrongfrown

  • Forgot to say that if I choose "Raytraced" or "Deep Shadow Map" I get a whole dark render, while if I choose 'none', I get a normal bright render.

  • It sounds as if you have the scene enclosed in an object - a building perhaps, or simply a skydome, that is set to Cast Shadows. In 3Delight, which is what you are presumably using given the shadow settings available, you can select an item and in the Parameters pane turn off the Cast Shadows setting to let light through. (Remember that a distant light is shining from "outside", regardless of where the light node is placed - only the direction matters.).

    Yes, the scene is inside a hall and I wanted to use the Distant Light to simulate the ray of the sun through the window. I checked all the items and for each of them the Cast Shadow is on: I haven't understood if it must be off or on to get the shadows.

  • When you work with a skydome, the "cast shadows" on that object has to be turned off. Otherwise there would be no light in the scene, if the Distant light is the only light source, because the Distant Light has to shine through the skydome.

    When you change your perspective into the Distant Light perspective, you can see if there is something that stands between the window and the light. A skydome would be some sort of Sphere or Hemisphere, that sits between the Distant Light and the actual objects of your scene. This Sphere has to have Cast shadows turned "Off"

    Is the distant light oriented so that it will shine through the windows/ Are the windows see-through and unobstructed?

    Yes.

    @Escobar87, it's not a skydome, it's a big rectangular room.

  • Is it a room you made yourself, or a freebie or store product? This is the 3Delight renderer?

    it's a freebie and yes, I use 3Delight for rendering

    In which case I would suggest that you remove it from your system and run a malware and AV scan.  Torrents are usually Warez and very often contain nasties.

    I exclude I have a malware nor a virus. My antivirus says my system is sane and protected and I have observed any anomaly.
