Question about DAZ Sales esp recent 50% Hair sale.

I'm not sure where to put this. For me also I wish the type were a bit larger, not 6pt on my computer screen.

My Issue: I was looking at buying a ton of older V4 Hair styles, so much so that I was also going to get a membership premium for the first time in awhile. I had bought a number of accesories at Rendo in a recent 85% off sale, for a number of the hair styles I did not have over here at DAZ. I was putting things into my buying account for the 50% off sale for non-membership users (65% for memebership) and when I got up this morning everything I was was looking at was back to full price. I had assumed it would go on to the weekend.

My question: Where do I find out how long DAZ sales run?   Obviously I'm not going to  buy the membership now.  I can really only afford the discounted products.

Also, when might DAZ have this sale again?  A month? six months?  I was ready to buy today. I maight not check back that often and miss it again.

Thank you.

  • 6pt text? Sounds as if you hav a high PPI monitor, in which case scale the text - most browsers support ctrl/cmd plus mouse wheel to scale (ctrl/cmd 0 will reset).

    Please don't bump threads.

Unfortunately Daz does not usually announce the duration of sales - but they do often end at the weekend if not before, two or three days is usually safe but soem 9especially the big discounts) may be that day only.

  • Your guess is as good as mine as to how long sales last.

DAZ seem to operate their sales on the FOMO principle (fear of missing out). If they make most sales last a day (as they usually do) then they can trigger a desperate, pavlovian panic buy response in their customers. Day long sales, randomly extend said sale, and so on. It's all visible in the sales. But what you will almost never see is a genuine sale end date. Also, if you have time to think, then you may have a chance to decide that 'No, actually I don't need X, Y and Z, because I have A and B which are similar'.

OK, I have no evidence that fomo creation is an actual policy, but it's a policy that seems to fit the evidence better than any other I can come up with.

My response to the usual day long sales is to have a mental list of what I'd like, and hold off buying until its on a sufficiently high discount. I don't have my wishlist highly populated as it's data acessible to DAZ and it's another source they can draw info from to lever money out of my wallet. (That might be paranoia speaking, but I behave as if it isn't to be on the safe side.)

    Regards,

    Richard.

Daz discounts are different than on the other stores, the other stores may have items at 50% off or even 60% off but that's it.

At Daz store one needs to keep eye on stacking discounts, 30% off for having these items in the cart 40% off for having any of these, 30% off for the items being in your wishlist and maybe even a 20% off coupon on top of everything.
Getting something at 95% off is not that unusual, especially older items (pre-genesis)

Daz+ membership does pay off, try the 3 month membership first and see. March Madness is just around the corner and that is one of the best sales during Daz year.

OK  Did not know that Daz had reputation for 1 Day Sales.  I don't think 50% is really that high, nor is the sale with membership at 65% when the product os $20-25. Yes, compared to other companies such as Turbosquid far better.  But unless I need something I try to wait until this level or sometimes even a 90% level.  They lost out on a boatload of money this time, howver because of the boatload at Rendo. Also lost either the  $24 or $70 membership (hadn't decided but was leaning toward a $70). I also haven't looked at my wishlist in a real long time Mr. R&T. Probably should do that.

Richard, the heplful Mr. H, you said "please don't bump threads."  I can't comply because I have no clue what that means. I did have an extra phrase in there which was taken out so I'm guessing it's somhow referencing that. A response is not really required as it's not that important, I think.

During big sales, March Madness, Daz+ sales, PA sales, Christmas sales... One can usually get the yearly Daz+ membership between $30-$40

Bumping a thread means posting there just to make it appear in recent threads again, without adding anything else to it.

As stated by others DAZ often does not announce the duration of sales. However, in the case of the Lunar Hair Items the fine print in the banner did state that it ended at 23;59 MST i2 February 2024

Thank you everybody.  I appreciate the responses. I learned something about "bumping". It just seemed I was being ignored by something everyone seem to know but me, and it was a big deal to me. I was looking to spend  probably in the $100-$200 range, large for  me.  I also learned something about Daz Sales.

Since I only have an older Poser (I have 11 but it keeps dying and I constantly have to take speical measures to go on line. I use the one before it, forget the number or year, which is stable; Until I get a new computer and probably switch to daz if I continue with this) most of what Daz offers I can't use and don't buy, so I'm never going to get the larger discounts. This 50% off older pre-genesis hair styles is probably one of the few things I'm going to buy for awhile.

I'll guess I'll be back in March, maybe.

I'm glad you shared your larger text with us all ;)

I'm a child of Genesis 8 and wouldn't touch your V4 stuff unless it was 50 cent which it often is :)
