Importing Issues from both Blender and Maya
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can assist me. Recently I have commissioned a lot of artists from the Blender community for objects in DAZ. Rigged animals, actually. And there seems to be a lot of converting issues.
I do actually have a rigged necklace which was made in Blender and it works fine, but others are having issues.
One person sent me a MAYA .mb file, and I have no idea what to do with it. I asked if they can change it because I cannot even open it.
The Blender ones are mostly obj files but the rigging is not coming through at all. Anyone know how to point them in the right direction? I know rigging is possible in DAZ Studio but this is something I know nothing about. Maybe I could ask someone here? Hmm.

Obj format does not contain any rigging information, so no there is no rigging to 'come through'. It can contain grouping info. And millighost has just posted a script that can export some rigging (not tried it yet, so I don't know how complex a rig it can deal with).

Maya's mb format is proprietary and can't be used by Studio.
Thank you for the quick reply.
Any suggestion for the Maya user? I am a bit surprised because I thought he was using Blender to create the creature >.>
And do you know if it is possible to make .cr2 files or anything rigged in Blender to come through to DAZ? Somehow someone did manage to include bones in a necklace for me that worked but I have no clue how he did it.
And a bit off topic... it seems I no longer get email notifications with this new forum. Did DAZ get rid of notifications? <.< I haven't seen where to enable them.
Up at the top of the first post...in the right hand corner of the line with the thread title is a star...click it. That will bookmark the thread (forum speak for turning on notifications).
Some very simple rigs or grouped objs with simple joints would work...but more often than not, it was a shot in the dark. And there used to be a plugin for Blender that would produce cr2/pp2 files and yes, they worked.
Thank you for the tip!
I will have to tell the Blender people to seek out this plugin. Thank you!
