Remove Michael

I've gone and made a michael genesis 2 male character into a child version. Unfortunately the child now has stubble (5 o'clock shadow) on his face. So how can I remove the michael skin? Do I have to replace it with another character skin? If so, are there any male characters without facial hair?

Thanks.

Yes, you need to replace it with another skin texture pack...

No, I can't think of any particular ones right now.

  • You might try one of the skins made for the teenagers.

The K4 UV works on G2/M6

That was last year's present from the PA Holiday giveaway, it's not 'standard', and not currently available.  That's why I didn't mention it.

I guess that is why I could not find it frown  I did find this: https://www.daz3d.com/brothers-for-growing-up-genesis-2-male-s-m6  I have purchased the growing up and M6, so maybe this is what is needed, as I had the same problem with the facial hair on a pre-teen morph.

    Oops. My bad.

"Brothers" includes a texture without facial hair, yes.

Or you could try the texture for one of the characters made for Teen Jayden 6. Here's the link to the pro bundle, which includes a few of them: https://www.daz3d.com/teen-jayden-6-pro-bundle

Thanks Leana.  I will look into that.  I am trying to create a child about 6-8.

The Brothers set works for that age range.

There is a way to transfer maps using the included Map Transfer utility within Studio...as long as you have something that uses the 'from' and 'to' UVs.

Basically this means, with doing a double transfer you can use K4 textures...you just need to load the K4 skin onto Genesis (it includes the K4 UV) and then use Map Transfer (http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-The-Map-Transfer-Utility-368686796) to move them to something that G2M has (generally that means you'll need at least Michael 5...although there are other add on UV sets that are available).

  • Thanks everyone. Using the Growing Up tool on M6 was what got me in this situation. I might get the Brothers add-on after the holidays but it turns out I have the K4 UVs. Unfortunately it makes the boy look very pasty compared to the other characters and not very realistic. Now I don't know if maybe the K4 UVs aren't Iray ready but I ended up editing the M6 skin textures in Photoshop and applying them. Was looking for a faster solution but oh well. Trying to get this card done in time for xmas.

PS. I have almost 2000 items I've purchased over the years from Daz and only started getting serious with this stuff this year. I can't wait to have my entire library categorized so I know what I have and what it's all for.

K4 UVs enable you to use textures made for K4, they don't have anything to do with Iray... But yes, K4 skins most probably don't have Iray settings considering that they were created years before Iray was released.

Create a Shader preset based on whatever skin you like. Then, on the non-Iray model, CTRL-click on the Skin surface group using the preset you just made. It might not be perfect for your particular case, but it'll get you into the ballpark. (I'm sure there's a tutorial somewhere)
