Backdrops In DazStudio 4.8

When I navigate to EDIT, in DazStudio 4.8, No BACKDROPS option/button exists.(unlike 4.6)

How do I add a Backdrop, using 4.8?

(...on any of the 4.8 Workplaces.)

  • The function for renderable backdrops has been moved to the new Environment pane (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Environnment). If you want the non-rendering background colour of viewports go to Window>Style>Customise Colours. Note that the Environment pane settingsa ren't sticky - they will be forgotten on File>New or a restart.

It's been moved to the Environment tab since DS 4.7

Thank you!  I don't think I would've run across that, on my own.

That is several extra steps, I wonder why they changed it.

Oh?  I didn't think of that.

Sort of along these lines (backdrop) if I make the backdrop some other colour I am noticing that it is rather short, eg. it doesn't cover the entire area of the preview pane if, say, Genesis is centered at 0,0,0.

I think, for various reasons, I would at times like the backdrop to be "virtually" a bit bigger if that's possible.

Perhaps I am missing something here.

Actually, if you go to Environment and enable a backdrop, change its color it will fill the entire viewport...IF you have your render dimensions set to Active Viewport, otherwise it will just fill the are specified by the render dimensions you do have set.
