How can I create an SSS, Sub Surface Scattering map for textures that to do not have one

    I would think GIMP would be a good start. But you need to decide what type of SSS map you want. The first type is a grey scale map, like a bump map, with the more SSS parts are lighter than the parts of the body that don't have as much SSS. This map goes into the SSS Strength channel if using Daz Studio. Or the other type is a colour map with parts more red than others. This does into the SSS colour channel. But also it can go in to the Translucency colour channel Have you searched google images to see what they look like?

    If you have textures that come with SSS maps you can use those on with other skins that don't have them - as long as the UV map is the same.
    I use Dimension theorys injection which comes with SSSmaps
