Rip in peace, Lou—such a good actor. One of my favorites of his was "Enemy Mine." I love so many of his movies. He was 87, prostate cancer.

Such a shame, we are losing so many well known actors/actresses.
I wish his family well in there time of grief.

Very sad about this one. I never saw him turn in less than a great performance, but Enemy Mine was a particular favorite of mine. Maybe it's time for a rewatch.

Lou Gossett, one of the actors and a man who I always respected. To pass today on Good Friday from cancer, he is now in the hands of the Lord.

So many great roles, but 'Roots' was one that stayed in my heart. Bless him and his family for his gifts to the world.

...the image in the OP is from the ground breaking SF film  Enemy Mine.

Another role I loved him in was as Marine Sergeant Emil Foley in An Officer and a Gentleman

It was said his depiction of the Marine sergeants who were part of the OCS navy pilot training programme was more than accurate.

Condolences. I only ever saw him in "An Officer & A Gentleman."  He was quite good as were the whole cast & others involved in the making of that film.
