Making ribbon from torus?

How would I do this. I've tried various Major and Minor diameters and they all come out looking like fat bike tire tubes. Or is there another way to make a ring of a flat ribbon-like shape?

    I would start from a cylinder instead...

    Are you thinking of a very short tube? That's just a short cylinder with the ends deleted.

    If you want a flat ring, you could delete most of the cylinder and just leave the outer ring of an end cap.

    scale the Y of the torus to 1% to flatten it.
