  • Too hard to redistribute for others but try headshop, I only have faceshop  6 EZ so I am no help anyway, I use genX on V4 etc heads with that, and the genesis 1 facegen exporter. For my own use OK but cannot share.

This may be of some assistance.  If you don't have access to or know how to use other 3D programs, this is a good way to work though you may want to get some of the morph packages that have different kinds of facial features to help you shape the head.  You can also look for information on DFormers that can help you refine.  Working with the extra morphs is probably the easiest.

(Click the video to watch it.)

Keep in mind that if you tried to use the photos for textures, which you would then need to learn how to textures, you would also need to do more parts of the body, at least what would show in the image, if you just wanted to do an image.  This would also really be for personal use.  If you needed to give your friend a copy of your finished morph for them to use, for instance, they would need to own the same things you used to make it.

It really depends on what you intend to do and how you intend to use it.

I did something similar to this video with my youngest son.  I just started with a base model, though, instead of finding a model that was already close.  It helps if you already have a lot of morphs.  You need to have the basic head and body morphs for your model.  It also helps if you have some of the third party morphs.  I have all of Zev0's morphs and they really helped to get close to what my son actually looks like.  I was actually surprised I could get that close, but it took awhile.  About 2 of 3 hours of fiddling with dials and such.  However, I do have to say that my son was real excited to see himself inside DAZ.  Once I'm finished with his textures, my son actually wants to make some renders of himself doing things.

edit: p.s.  I don't know if anyone on the forum does this for pay.  It is real easy to do yourself, though, if you want to give it a try.  The only cost might be if you find you need more morphs than just the basic head and body morph.  And as I already stated above, the more morphs you have to draw from the better.

  • I would also say, think of it as doing a caricature rather than an exact portrait.  :)

  • I agree with Chris about the caricature.  It is highly unlikely that you will get a your morphed character exactly like your friend.  You should be able to get it real close, but don't go into it with the idea that it will be perfect.  Play with the dials and have fun with it.  Like caricature artists, try picking one or two main features of your friend and try to accentuate that and try to get the rest as close as possible.  It is an interestng experiment, you'll learn some new skills, and your friend will probably enjoy having a 3D version of herself.

  • sorry to get back to every one so late, but life reared it's ugly head and took me away from this quest for the moment.

Thank you all for your advice.
