What I like about DS

Lighting and lighting reflection, I can add, move and change different kind of lightings around and their effects would register in all objects in the scene as accurately, as the DS gurus make possible.
For example, if the dome is rendered, its reflection would show up in a reflecting liquid.

I am sure other apps like DS are similar, but I don't have experience with any other.

What do you like about DS?

Cheers!

Simplicity. Thanks to the many many vendors and creators, there are so many free items, great sales and, of course, the holiday giveaways. You can pretty much get anything you need either free or very cost effective. It's easy to update textures on old items, advances made in fitting cothes and such across model versions, mixing and matching from several products for desired look.

I can't speak for anything iray as I'm still checking out video's and websites to learn that.

There's a lot to recommend DS. I experimented with Blender, Maya, 3DS Max and C4D when I first started dipping my toes into 3D, but what drew me to DS was the ease of use. Despite its limitations, it's the best program out there for what it does, which is playing dress-up with figures, easily attaching clothes and hair, changing textures, posing and so on.  I barely touch DS these days except to export assets out, but that's just because I need functionality that DS doesn't have. To be perfectly honest, I'm fine with DS not having those features if adding them would detract from what DS is good at.

Hmm. Basically it's a tool that helps set my imagination free.

I've always wanted to draw people, but having the skillset of a klutz, I can't. This tool lets me create pictures despite my skills.

    Regards,

    Richard

I like that I can create the characters and images in my head with as much customization and tinkering as I want. I also like that I can level up my skills by learning from all the wonderfully creative people here on the forums. If I'm stumped by something, I come here first to see if anyone else has figured it out. Chances are, someone already has and I can fix my problem too.

Mostly, though, I get a huge amount of satisfaction from rendering artwork to my exact specifications. It makes me happy to see my imagination come to life and be able to share it with others.

I like that I can use it for illustrations, whether it's making a scene with the assets I own or using the figures and assets as a drawing reference.

I like that it offers options for everyone. As a beginner you can load all kinds of presets and get a nice result rather quickly, and as a content creator you can really dive in and go as complex and complicated as you like, and all the stages in between. smiley
