Skydome not showing in render
Hi, all. I've just recently purchased the "Abandoned Factory," by Aako. When I load the environment everything looks great in the viewport; clouds, sky, building etc...But when I go to render it out the sky sphere is not there. the whole sky area looks like night time. Can someone please help me understand what I'm doing wrong?
Thx...

Also, I should have mentioned that I'm using the Iray renderer in Daz studio 4.8 pro...I got frustrated and reset my settings back to default just to see if that would help, but no go...any help would be much appreciated.
Skydomes wont show up in Iray as they block the light. You have to make them transparent for them to work.
Thanks for responding, Fishtales. I was under the impression that the skydome that came with the setup would have already been set to transparent, but anyway, how would I go about changing it?
I don't have the product but this is the general settings I start with and then tweak to suit :)
Thanks! I'll adjust the settings and see if that helps. I just don't understand why it doesn't work "right out the box" so to speak. You would think just loading the presets you could render at least a basic view of the whole environment. Anyway, I'm sure it's something on my part and not the product, but thanks a million for your help!
becasue it was made for the 3delight and Poser (Firefly) render engines, not Iray as it was made well before Iray came along.
As Pete says, it is made for 3Delight and not Iray but there are ways to get it to work, that is just mine, there are others.
Ok, well that explains it then. Thank you both for your help. Next time I'll be more careful and check for the "made for Iray" tag....thanks again!
You can always delete the Skydome from the scene and plug the environment jpg that comes with the product into the Iray Environment Dome Map and use it as the background. If it is a high enough resolution it might even do for the lighting.
Hey, great idea. It worked flawlessly and looks awesome! Nice looking out, Fishtales....thanks!
You are welcome. It works with most skydomes as long as the image is at a high enough resolution. Lower resolution ones work up to a point but need some work to get a half decent background.
This is excellent stuff, I thank you too Fishtales (and I'm using your settings for skydome too, they're way better than anything I've managed so far, thanks).
Not all my idea. timmins.william started it off.
