Well we did have snow. Everything was fine when I picked up our Amazon package. Then as we headed out, there was light snow. By the time we got home, the road was covered and we did slide down the hill and past our driveway. I somewhat enjoyed the physics involved with the antilock brakes and... "sipes". Lots of sipes. Wesley Sipes.

I'm still waiting for my panthers shirt to come in via mail.  It is too small for me, but the right size for 18 inch dolls!

I went to a Buc-ee's for the first time, and it was absolute bedlam.

They're planning on building a new one in our region. I told my handler I was eager to learn what a beaver nugget is.

I had some covered in chocolate, and they were quite tasty. I probably should have had some bald first.

I visited mum for thanksgiving.  My mum was sitting in her favorite chair with Oscar sleeping on her lap.

I put two cat treats next to my mum but I didn't tell her.  Oscar woke up and sniffed the treats before gobbling them up.  He wanted more apparently.

i attached a picture I took of him on Thanksgiving.

...I thought you were a Green Bay fan..

Packers pummelled Miami on Thursday and wide receiver Jayden Reed (on my fantasy team) finally got more passes thrown his way, including two for touchdowns

I am a packer fan. American Girl didn't sell Packer tshirts but cheerleader outfits.  At least last time I checked.

Complaint: We don't have an autumn-themed food based holiday. I don't know what pumpkin pie tastes like, only that people say it's gooood.

There is also the venerable sweet potato pie. And there are people who will argue over which is better between sweet potato and pumpkin. It's kind of like arguing over what petite means.

When I was small (and younger as well) my Mother made pumpkin pie from scratch, using pumpkins we grew in our garden. These pumpkins weren't the bright orange Jack-o-Lantern type you see in the stores. They were pinkish and had a very thin skin and a thicker "meat" which is what we called the edible part. This was actually naturally sweet, something like cantaloupe sweetness but not a similar flavor. The orange ones don't taste like that.

Once the meat was cut up into smaller chunks, they were put into a very big cook pot with some water and boiled until soft enough to mash like potatoes. Sugar was added to taste, along with salt, margarine and just enough pumpkin spice to bring out the full flavor of the pumpkin.

These were not custard pies, they were fruit pies. I can't really describe how good they were, only that I have tasted what people call pumpkin pie and it is not very good to me. I only taste way too much pumpkin spice and cloves. Cloves are not good in a pie, slick and nasty to my taste. I can't smell or taste the pumpkin itself in those pies. They remind me of mincemeat pie, which I can't eat. no

Mom also made her own pie dough, and what a treat it was smelling them bake. When they were finished baking (there was no top crust) she would add homemade meringue and brown it in the oven. So good.

Of course, now I only have memories of those Thanksgiving and Christmas pies. But oh! what memories...

My mother did a lot of baking.  Pies, cakes, casseroles, cookies.  She always kept a garden up until about the mid sixties.  She did her own canning of tomatoes, fruits, pickles and a delicious sandwich spread.  During the fall my ad-hoc photographic darkroom in the basement got re-filled with canned goods.  She was a self-employed wallpaper hanger, knitter, clothing maker, furniture refinisher & upholsterer, county legislator, town historian, perpetual coffee drinker and heavy cigarette smoker.  She died at 64 in '92.

This is Day 10 of sleep deprivation. It comes in threes. The extra chores started on November 17th, with every 1.5 hours, hand feeding a two week old Gouldian, abandoned by the parents. After 5 days of handfeeding, he did not make it. The day before he died, on November 21st, we had to rush to the vet with a cat, and a dog, so the bird missed two feedings and that's never good. Day onne of true sleep deprivation,, started with giving the cat 3 different meds for a ruptured eye. Drops and Gels every two even hours and Augmentin at 7am and pm.  How a 19 year old cat that does nothing but lay around, managed to do that, is beyond me. He's been to the vet twice so far. And will be on the drops and meds for a minimum of one possibly two months. The bad news is his injury was straight in the pupil. The good news is he will be finished the Augmentin tonight and his eye, although lost, is starting to heal wound-wise. Thankfully the refill eye meds will be from 6am to 10 pm.

My Yorkie, who is 14 and was diagnosed with Diabetes insipidus, and pees clear, had darkish urine and was scratching at her eyes so we bought her in with the cat, thinking maybe it was a weird eye virus. Found out she had an eye infection from two little hairs growing into her eyes. For her eyes, had to treat her with Cefpodoxime pill, half tab 2x a day and this little tube of clear eye gel. She, like most Yorkies has had weeping eyes that need to be cleaned often, but constant sleaning was irritating her under eye skin. The junk just reappeared every day. So they shaved that area, and her skin was raw (from her and us, not them) butnow it was really raw. The vet prescribed a tiny tube of gel for twice a day on the raw area under the corner of her eyes. That tube stuff worked like magic. healed the wounds without them scabbing and  totally got rid of the weeping. First time ever no dark anywhere near her eyes. The gel worked like magic and aslo cleared the eye issues. The next day the vet called to say she has cronic kidney disease and blood in the urine but said the Cefpodoxime was a general anti-biotic and should help. Bought her in, with the cat for the follow up the day after Thanksgiving, and the Cefpodoxime, although for the eyes, got rid of the urine infection completely. Unlike other anti-biotics this one had no noticeable side effects. Nor did the Augmentin for the cat.

I kept waking up way too early this morning. I wanted to make French toast before my ride comes.  I got a call when I was in the shower saying that someone thought I canceled my rides today.  I didn't.  Fortunately the rides were reinstated.

I can't cancel my rides today as I work after church and need to work and then pick up my orders from Walmart.

I had this… dream… that I was in a clothing store that sells pumpkins. Kind of like a furniture store that sells Swedish meatballs. And I wasn’t really comfortable with the pumpkins. I was familiar with pink lemonade and even pink panthers but not so much a pink pumpkin.

So I told them I was looking for an outfit in my size. And two the attendants were arguing over whether I was regular size or petite. And I insisted that I was kind of like Goldilocks. I mean this one is too big and that one is too small and I’m going to need one that is just right. So they decided if I’m not going to be regular or petite then they’re going to have to either crush me or dice me. So I told them, instead of the outfit, I’ll just take one of those pink pumpkins.

I accidentally spilled some yogurt in the taxi.  I was embarrassed.  The taxi driver was telling me I have to pay for detailing of the taxi.  I became ashamed of myself and dreading paying for the bill.  I called the owner of the taxi service and he said I don't have to pay for it.

I hate it when someone harps on what I did wrong to the point that I feel like crap!

It is about time to clock in.  I hope the apron hides the yogurt stains!

Oh that reminds me: I dreamt that I was peeing like crazy in the back of someone's car! blush Fortunately I did not wake up in a very wet bed, because that would have been just miserable. Pee-dreams can be dangeroo.

I sometimes have dreams I have to pee but there isn't a suitable toilet anywhere.

Yeah, like the toilets are mounted vertically on the wall and impossible to sit on. Or they're in the middle of a public space, or abhorrently filthy, or just all of those.

I did, which makes it doubly lucky that I was only dreaming. Coffein before bed isn't always a splendid idea.

Weird thing about me and dreams. When I was young my dreams were very vivid and usually scary. As I aged, they became less so.

Now, at 71, I haven't had a dream that I remember when waking in years. I'm sure I still dream, but the dreams just aren't that memorable.  blush
