distortions after import from blender

mcorrmcorr Posts: 1,086

I have a strange problem. Hopefully somebody can help.

I exported to blender (using the bridge) a G9 figure with the G9 feminine shape appllied.

I did one sculpt on the head and reimported via Morph loader pro.

That was successful, but when I used the slider to apply the morph, it added not just the morph, but also a morph that I never made (a bodily distortion that got stronger as I applied more of the slider).

I reinstalled G9 Starter essentials thinking that might have something to do with it, but no happiness

Since I am using the bridge, there is nothing I need to adjust when exporting. I guess it might be possible that my obj export settings from blender need some tweeking. If that could be the problem, perhaps somebody could tell be which successful export setting they have used.

Aside from that, any ideas what might be going wrong?

Sounds like changed vertex order, there is a setting to keep it unchanged.

    I assume you're using Blender 4.x

ss1 is the OBJ export settings in Blender... if you use DTB bridge.
ss2 is the setttings in MLP, you need to set Yes to Reverse Deformations, Delta Only to Overwrite Existing (as you dialed Base Feminine on the G9 Base figure, Reverse Deformations must be set as "Yes", otherwise you'll get wrong result... )

    That'll do ~

PS: Starting from Blender 4.x, Legacy OBJ export function is discontinued, so there won't be any issue related to Vertex Order unless you use some Modifier to make that happen...

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I've tried both, but the problem appears to be of a different nature. The Blender export options are not the problem. I tried different combos, they all gave the same bad results.

    The problem is as follows.

The Blender sculpting morph works fine when it was originally a G9 base (genderless) figure exported to Blender, but when I add a female head and body morph before exporting to blender, then the blender morph comes back with the female body too, not just the sculpting morph I crafted in Blender.

The result is a distortion when I dial in the Blender sculpt because there are now two body morphs: the one applied to G9 waiting in Studio and the on top of that the Blender sculpt with the G9 Fem body.

I must then dial back to zero the femine head and body to 0% so that there is only one of each being applied, not both.

Anybody have an idea why I am having this problem with the female shape applied? Perhaps Blender should only be exporting the sculpt, but is also exporting the G9 Feminine body and head too.

Is there some way of putting an end to that?

I am no Blender 3.6 and Daz 4.21 Beta.

EDIT: The same is happening when the male head and body are applied to G9 before being sent to Blender. He comes back way way buff (opposite to her getting skinnier and more sickly looking).

You set any ERC Links in between these morphs or sth... ? What do you mean by "the blender morph comes back with the female body too" ?  Did it auto follow or sth... ?

Well... I've helped and fixed quite a few sculpting / morphing issues related to DS > Blender > DS, but I really don't understand the issue that you described...

Better post some screen shots or a video clip...

Or, you may post your issue on the sub-forum of Blender Discussion. We normally discuss and fix things related to Blender there. See if other folks who're using the same Blender / DS version can reproduce the issue and / or help.

Really not sure what the problem is. I am on a MAC and have just created another user, so I will reinstall all the basic stuff to see if the problem can be fixed that way. Will report.

By the way, do you have a link to the sub-forum you are active on? I'd like to read what you guys have discussed so that I cn improve my knowledge base.

Oh, Mac... I'm just a Windows user, not aware of anything about DS "issues" in Mac... is there any bug or some limitation in DS Mac version related to this subject matter ? I just don't know...

Yes, Blender sub-forum is in here - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/blender-discussion
