Runtime Question

Some content does not show up and some content does. I must have changed something but can't figure it out. All content is installed using DIM and the files seem to go where they should but don't show up inside Studio.

Is that the Daz Format or Poser Format section you are showing in the Content Library?
That's the DAZ Format I believe and I can open some other content that is there in Studio. Like I said, I must have changed something and just can't figure it out.
Look in the Poser Format section...the folder you are showing has no Daz format files in it...just cr2s, which are Poser format files.
I will check THAT out, Thanks. I didn't think to Look for the DAZ formatted files. Thanks again.
It looks like your content directories aren't set up correctly. Can you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats", and post a screenshot?
I am at work and will post a screenshot.
Thanks
Two Screenshots. Inside DAZ Studio and a second internal HD where DIM installs.
You would need the Mini2 folder set as a Poser Content directory to see those files.
In general you have a lot of nested content directories - a folder selected but also folders inside that folder selected - which is likely to cause problems. You should never have a folder inside a content directory selected as a content diectory for Daz Studio.
The Mini 2 is a second internal HD that I installed DAZ Studio into. I did that just to dedicate the HD to only DAZ Studio. I'm afraid I am not following the folder Hierarchy here. The other Poser Runtimes are on my main HD because wanted the second HD dedicated to Studio. Should I start over by creating a Studio folder on the Mini 2?
Mini2 is a valid assignment...but you don't need to assign anything else in that folder. So Mini2/Reality and Mini2/Runtime are not needed.
As for Poser formats...Poser 8, Poser Pro 2014 and Mini 2 are probably all that are needed, not the rest of the ones within Poser 8.
Not necessary — your content is probably installed correctly, what's wrong is that your nested content settings are confusing D|S. It isn't a case of "don't need to", you must not have any path selected in Content Directory Manager if it's a subfolder of another already selected path.
Note also that any D|S content location must also have an entry in the Poser Formats section of the Content Directory Manager. Strictly Poser-only Runtime locations don't need a D|S Formats entry.
"Don't need to" in this case is...do not need to assign anything else because assigning the 'top level' takes care of everything else. Nothing else needs to be done. Studio will handle the rest from that point...
Well, I'm dazed and confused. Where or what should I do with the Runtime folder so Studio can see the ALL the content inside? I only spend a few hours a week using Studio. I have been a long time customer of DAZ content and enjoy the high level of professional products they have. Up to just the last few months I only used Poser (Poser 4 pro up through Poser 2014). I never really was interested in Studio because it seemed the learning curve was to steep.. However, after using Studio 4.8 for a little while I think it's VERY easy to use and the rendered work it fantastic. I'm hooked on Studio and have been using it way more than my trusted Poser. And except for this little 'Runtime' quirk, Studio is my new favorite. But I digress. HOW EXACTLY can I get Studio to use that pesky Runtime folder?
And please excuse this next digression, I have found all my questions searching through DAZ forums. The people, posts, and knowledge found here it pretty terrific. Thanks.
You've already done it.
When you set a folder path in Content Directory Manager, D|S will automatically know it has to look directly inside that folder (that means no other folders in between) for certain other folders. One is the /data/ folder, which is the D|S equivalent of the Poser Geometries folder, the other is the Runtime folder itself.
It's exactly like defining a new runtime location for Poser — you never set the location of the runtime itself, you set the location of the folder that contains the runtime.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Well how about THAT. This has been a perception problem on my part. The Runtime folder I have been asking about is for Poser and not for Studio! Please forgive my confusion. Everything inside that Runtime is exactly right and has been attached to my Poser Pro 2014 ALL ALONG! I feel like an idot for not seeing this along. There never was a problem (except in my head). Thanks for bering with me and helping me throught this. I truly appreciate all help. DAZ rocks and you folks on the forums are very much appreciated.
Thank you again.
Don't worry too much about it — a lot of people moving from Poser to D|S seem to have a brain-breaking moment or two before everything clicks. Mine was when I finally realised how multiple content folders work. D|S might be designed to be almost completely compatible with most Poser content, but sometimes that "almost" and "most" turn into the cliff face that Wile E. Coyote goes <splat> against.

. . . as my wife likes to say "True Dat" . . .
Many Thanks
